Cider Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
OK so I just made this again for the 3rd time and wow I made it even simpler. I got a cheddar, monteray jack and asadero chees mix and used spiced cider and it was fantastic!!! my original post is below. This was a GREAT recipe! I made it for a party but had to make it the next day in a much smaller batch to try it myself because by the time I had a chance to try it the entire double batch had vanished! I served it with mini hot dogs, apple, beer bread, french bread and broccoli. A total hit I printed out the recipe at the party because it was so talked about. Super easy to make it was creamy and smooth both times. Financially reasonable unlike many recipes for cheese fondue that I found and no alcohol was involved. Highly recommended!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
I followed the recipe as written, with the only modification being to substitute 1 cup of butterscotch chips for 1 of the cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips, as well as using two 9x9 inch cake pans. I also changed the cooking time from the listed 50 minutes to a little under 45 minutes. That, also, was a bit on the high side, as the corners of the cakes are a bit on the crunchy side. All in all, I like the taste of this cake. It's not overly sweet, which is something that I like, but the chocolate flavour still shines through. While I wouldn't go so far as to call it the Best Cake Ever, and I can see where some reviewers thought it had a 'boxed cake' taste, it is nonetheless a very good cake. I'll most likely be making it again.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

This frosting is delicious. I used more cocoa, and 1 1/2 tbl evaporated milk, and used margarine instead of butter. It tastes just like store bought. Yum!

Swink's Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
My family loved this chili...the only things that I changed were that I added some salt (to taste), and I added about half the water. It was perfectly beany, meaty, thick, and rich. It DEFINITELY tastes even better the next day. I will definitely be making this again, although I will add some green bell peppers next time. Thank you!

Cheesy Beef Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2007
We loved it! It took a little longer than pedicted or I move really slow, either way it took like 30 min prep. I would use a little more meat next time, but that might be limited by the amount of sauce. This is a nice comfort food.

Poke Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2007
I made this cake using strawberry flavored jello for my son's birthday. The kids loved it, and it was gone in a matter of minutes. It is an extremely moist, delicious cake. I can't wait to experiment with different flavored cake mix, pudding, and jello. I think a chocolate cake mix, chocolate pudding, and black cherry flavored jello would be fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!

Surprise Banana Cake

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
This cake was delicious....although I agree with some reviewers comments about it having the texture of banana bread rather then cake. I added about a teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. I made a simple cinnamon buttercream frosting to ice the cake with....That really made it special. My husband and 4 children ate the entire cake within minutes. Thanks for a great recipe!

Sausage Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
Made this for a football play-off party and it was a smash hit! People were just standing at the crockpot scooping away. The host demanded the recipe( and I already had given it to his wife!) Only comment was maybe use more sausage next time to give it a heartier texture. Also, I used a 14.5 oz. can of tomatoes w/chilies in lieu of the 10 oz.

Best Ever Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
These muffins are SO good. Did make some changes, though. Cut the bisquick back to 1 1/4 cups, increase the cornmeal to 1/2 cup, and lower the vanilla to 1 teaspoon or even 1/2 teaspoon. I thought the sugar amount was perfect. You can even sprinkle some cornmeal over the tops of the muffins before you bake them if you like a crunchier top. I will be making these constantly. Thanks!!
