Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
I made the first loaf according to directions. It had good bananda flavor, moist and not overly sweet. ***** stars as is. The second loaf I substituted whole wheat flour, 1/2 butter for unsweetned applsauce, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and added a 1/2 c. of shredded coconut. Healthier and and still excellent. Thanks for the base recipe, which stands well all by itself. You could really go nuts (walnuts) if you wanted. Thank you for a great recipe.

These were so good that I immediately started a second batch after tasting the first. I added some grated ginger to the mix. Thank you!

Biscotti Toscani

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
I've made biscotti using other recipes before and this one is the keeper. The dough is stickier than other recipes I've used in the past, but perhaps that is why (although the cookies are hard, as they should be) no one will break a tooth on the finished product :) The only modification I made was to use 1 tsp each of vanilla and almond extracts. Thanks!

Broccoli Coleslaw

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2007
I lied to my kids and told them it cucumber instead of brocolli. They loved it. It's sweet, tangy with a slight crunch that is truly unique. Will make again. My husband took the leftovers for lunch the following day and said it tasted even better.

Babaci's Potato Pierogi

The proportions are way off on this recipe. I ended up with a bowl full of filling, even after I cut the ingredients in half. My polish husband did not like the cottage cheese in the filling.

Stewed Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2007
Very tasty. My kids ate it and they are pickey eaters. Stewing the cabbage and onions gave it a delicate sweetness that was well balanced my tomatoes. I will make it again, but I might try adding some smoked kielbsa.

Glazed Meatloaf II

Didn't really care for the texture. I was looking for something with a little more flavor. My kids are meatloaf fanatics and they didn't care for this one. I'll stick to my Mom's recipe.

Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
I made this recipe for a football game. The hostess also made a pot of chile. This recipe was gone while the other remained untouched. I knew I had a hit when the guys were scraping the last morsels with corn bread. Excellent. Follow the recipe and you won't be disappointed.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
Very good. We rubbed the roast with a pork seasoning mix. I added a bunch of whole peeled garlic cloves and a touch of liquid smoke and let it cook overnight. We live in a small place, and it smelled so delicious that we couldn't sleep :) After about 14 hours, I used a slotted spoon to separate out the pork from the liquid and am letting it sit on low for another hour or so. Already taste-tested and it's amazing. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
Made while camping on the Cape. I didn't have enough sauce so it came out a little dry, but the kids (all nine of them) loved it. I served extra sauce and cheese on the side. I agree with other reviewers. Next time I'll add red peppers, sweet italian sausage and a few mushrooms. Will definitely make again

I loved this recipe. I added scallops and the whole pot dissappeared. It's not too thick. The flavor is mild and well balanced. I live in Massachusetts and have had many different "chowdas" and this one is excellent.
