Island Kielbasa in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
Well we just had it and let me tell you, the family loved it. My wife said that it wasn't something she would order out, but, if I wanted to make it 2-3 times a month she would love to eat it. We could absolutely see this made for our parties and family gatherings. Also, I also only used 3/4 cup brown sugar, added 1 med onion(diced up) and 1 green bell pepper (diced up)

Slow Cooker Maple Country Style Ribs

Oh My God, These were soooo good, my family couldn't stop eating them until they were gone. My brother tried some (and he doesn't like ANYTHING.) He loved them. They are so easy to make, that even I couldn't mess it up. Great job = 5 star P.S. I also used 1/3 cup soy sause and 1/3 cuo maple syrup.

Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
The first time that I made bread from scratch. Yeast always scares me. I proofed it first and everything fell into place. The texture was very nice. Mild flavor. The house smelled divine. Made excellent apple bread pudding. I still looking for a recipe that used honey, but this was a start.

Yum Yum Squares

This was an interesting recipe. The crust was quite moist and the topping was decent. I wasn't expecting this to be as "bready" as it was, however, it was a nice surprise. I will definitely consider making this again.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

I was looking for a recipe like the restaurants serve. I had never found it until now. This soup has a wonderful flavor to it. I used onion rolls for the bread. My family loves it so much, they request it at least once a week.

Chocolate Zucchini Cookies

These are pretty good. I doubled the recipe and added an extra egg, 1 t cinnamon and 2 oz melted bittersweet chocolate. They are nice and moist but there is something missing in the flavor. It's a recipe I'll keep and keep working on.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Make this cake for that cookout, baby shower, whatever! I doubled everywhere that called for coffee and coffee flavored liqueur and made the center layer the plain one and the bottom and top coffee flavored and the coffee flavor was still subtle and light tasting!! Absolutely excellent recipe!!!

Chocolate Zucchini Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
This recipe is delicious...even kids who won't even look at a green vegetable will eat this - just tell them it's chocolate "cake". I followed a previous reviewer's suggestion and added 2 T cocao powder to the recipe for more chocolate flavor. This bread is moist and a definate recipe you'll want to save.

Peach-a-Berry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I just made this pie for the first time and I am happy to report, this pie is AMAZING! Few things: Most of the time needed to prepare this pie went into getting the peaches ready. Here's the easiest way to peal peaches: - Place whole peach in boiling water for 30 seconds. - Remove from boiling water with slotted spoon and place in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. - Pull skin off using blade edge of paring knife to grab peel. Also use this method to peel other fruits such as apricots and tomatoes. I used frozen raspberries, a store bought pie crust, and instead of coarse sugar on top, I used regular sugar mixed cinnamon. Other than those subtle substitutes, I followed the recipe and I got a delicious pie that was a tiny bit runny at first slice but after a few minutes, it was a good consistency. I think I just cut into it too soon, so next time I make this, I will either add a little cornstarch OR be patient. ;)

Banana Bread V

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
A nice, moist bread. I did change it up a bit by using 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar. I also added 1 t cinnamon, 1/2 teas nutmeg and 1/4 teas ground cloves. I also tossed in 1 cup choc chips which I had tossed in a bit of flour first. I used a ceramic loaf pan and it took a full hour to cook. I took someone else's suggestion and covered the pan with foil after I took it out to "steam" for 1/2 hour. It smelled heavenly and tasted delicious. A "keeper" recipe thanks to the 4-H and poster!!

I had Portguese Sweet Bread left over from Easter. I cut back on sugar to one cup, because of the sweetness of the bread. It was extremely good. Simple and Yummy. Not too eggy. The Vanilla sauce took it over the top. 9x13 pan gone in 20 minutes. Thanks for sharing.
