Everyone loved this served at a French dinner party. I substituted salted pecans and raspberry preserves and nixed the cranberries. Perfect.

Peanut Butter Frosting

Really really good. Don't change the proportions. The consistency was strange for spreading (it didn't spread as well as I'd like)but it was delicious! Used for an ice cream cake.

Perfect. Just substituted heavy cream in place of milk and this is the best chocolate frosting I have ever had.

Pumpkin Pie Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
This was quite good. Very moist as expected but as others noted, bake it for 1 hour 15 mins at 300-325. My loaves were a little darker on the outside before the middle was done. Also, add a tsp of Vanilla and double the spice and you have perfection! That's why I only gave this one 4 stars-for these tiny improvements. Enjoy!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
Amazing. Don't change anything about the ingredients. But do make sure to make big holes in the cake after it comes out of the oven. I used the end of a plastic serving spoon. This helps all the condensed milk and caramel really get soaked up. Delicious! (Next time I would add salted peanuts for a little crunch)

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
This was my first time making eggnog and this recipe was perfect. Everyone enjoyed it and the rum can easily be added as needed. We used 2 cups instead of 2 and 1/2 but really you can be very flexible because the rest of the ingredients work together very well. Make sure it is well-chilled and this is a perfect Holiday treat with dessert!

Kolachky

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
I guess this must be an Eastern European recipe! My mother made these cookies for Ukrainian Christmas, and everyone loved them. I lost the recipe, so thank you for sharing it. She called them "rohalyky" (horns)because she rolled the dough into a 12 inch circle, cut it like a pizza into 12 slices, put a teaspoon of jam at the widest end and rolled it towards the narrow end. She sprinkled the top with a mixture of sugar and nuts. They were delicious!

Corn Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I want to do 4.5 stars but I'll go with 4. This recipe is great and I can't wait to make it again. My only change (which is not necessary) is to add a few teaspoons of turmeric to compliment the Cumin. It's really a good dip. Eat with tortilla chips or even with regular kettle cooked potato chips. A must-try.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

I made this recipe as written but made them as muffins and baked for about 25 mins. Delish. They didn't last through the weekend at my house. I am actually too afraid to make them again b/c they are dangerous and I ate way too many. I also added chopped walnuts. YUM. Thanks for the recipe.

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
This was good. the best parts were the bacon, peas and dressing-but I love green peas. For the dressing not to be too thick, I used 1 cup sour cream and 1 cup regular mayo, added the parm and sugar and let it sit out an hour before ladling over individual servings. This worked better than topping the entire dish as people could portion out the dressing (there is plenty trust me) and allowed it too loosen up.

Lemon Snowflake Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
These were good but received three stars because I was looking for a denser lemon cookie. A hazard of having the exact taste and texture in mind is that the baker will oft be disappointed in a new recipe. These did taste quite good though. They were light, chewy and tart. My parents loved them and I loved the batter:) I would make them again for a lemon lover. In the meantime-does anyone know a good recipe for Lemon Coolers? Those crispy little powdered cookies by Sunshine( they do not make them anymore!) Thanks for a quick cookie.

Florentine Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
Minutes-this is how long this dish lasted at a happy hour I attended with some co-workers. Serve it with cut veggies and any kind of cracker (I used mixed grain, butter (like Ritz), and cracked pepper crackers) or tortilla chips and the end result is the same - mui yummy! Don't change the ingredients and do serve it cold!

Toffee Cashew Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
Quite good. I am not usually a fan of bar cookies or shortbread-type bar cookies but these are wonderful. The bottom layer is slightly crumbly but perfectly sweet. The top layer is, of course, creamy and crunchy thanks to the condensed milk which makes most desserts divine. I have been looking for a cookie with cashews and this one did it for me. I made these for a road trip and they were gobbled up within 2 days. Thanks:)

Easy Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
I altered this recipe a little to make them healthier and because I was baking for someone with a blood sugar control issue. I cut out the brown sugar and added 1/3 cup flax meal to the batter. They still tasted good. Healthy, but good. For someone who can't have sugar, these did the dessert trick.

Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2007
This recipe was quite tasty and perfect for a Saturday night but I give it four stars instead of five because it wasn't malleable after I baked it. Once it was put in the fridge it hardened up and for those of us who like to dip into the fridge for a quick bite, it didn't work so well. I did, however, add 2 tbsp of olive oil and 2 tbsp of mayo to loosen it up and it was quite good hot or cold this way! Thanks for the recipe:)
