Brazilian Chicken with Coconut Milk

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This was very different, but good. I used red peppers instead on jalepenos. I think the jalepenos would have been better. I used ground ginger, and I acually blended the coconut and diced tomatoes in the blender and poured over chicken and rice. TIP: Use Basamti rice, it taste more authentic with it.

Plain Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
These were a lot of work. They were good but.... I think I would rather just buy them. It would be so much easier for me. The bakery donuts taste better than these too.Sorry:(

Cucumbers with Dressing

These were great! I did alter the sugar to less. I also added grated red onion for a kick. It works good with this because you get the onion flavor without the chunks.

Fry Bread Tacos II

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
These were a great alternative to taco shells. I don't think I'll ever buy the shells again. I did use refried beans instead of pinto beans, and you def need more than 2 cups of flour. Maybe 2 1/2 all together. I will definatly make these again.

Mulligatawny Soup I

This was fantastic, I omitted the cream and used milk instead, to make it lighter, and it was still very rich tasting. I also used a little bit more curry powder. My family loved it.

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

These cookies went over big at the cookie swap. I added a bit more cinnamon than it called for, and I rolled in a little more flour to make the dough easier to work with. They are the perfect Christmas Cookie.

Cheesy Shrimp Meltaways

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
For simple ingredients like these, it is surprisingly good. I used frozen small cooked shrimp, and put a little bit of shredded sharp cheddar on top. Everyone liked them, they were the first thing to go at the party.

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
This was the best recipe, I got raves, and the sauce was perfect. I added a few red pepper flakes to the sauce to put some color and a little heat in there. I put them in the freezer for a 1/2 hour before cooking. I think it made them stand up to cooking much better.

Cream-Filled Strawberries

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Very elegant, and good. I used Amaretto liquor instead of almond extract. I couldn't get the cream in the strawberry cutting the top into an X, so I opened them up and tried, NOT GOOD!. Instead, I took a melon baller on slant and took a little chunk out on the berry, forming a hole, then I piped the cream into the strawberries hole. Much easier, and still very pritty.

Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
This is delicious. I used 2 cups of half and half and 1 cup of milk, and used egg beaters. It was really velvety, and sooo chocolatty. It is really hard to find a recipe that dosn't give you that filmy feeling in your mouth, and this one dosn't. Next time I will put in toasted almonds.

Crab Rangoon III

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Okey, I altered this recipe a bit, but it's a good base recipe. Here's what I did: 1/2 can crab meat, 1pkg on low fat cream cheese, eyeball onion, garlic, and paprika to taste, maybe tsp each. Cut up 2 scallions chopped, mixed it all up and put Tbsp into wonton and fry. Awsome sweet and sour sauce dip with it: Duck sauce mixed with about a Tbsp of white vinegar ( don't go crazy, it will be to overpowering) little water, and red pepper flakes mix together and place it into fridge for 1/2 hour. The best dipping sauce ever with these. My husband says their better than takeout, and that's hard, we live in Mass.. some of the best chinese food around.

Five Minute Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This was good, BUT... it was very icy. I used fresh strawberries, vanilla yogurt, and half and half, cocoa, and little bit more sugar. The flavor was good, but I was kinda hoping for a creamier consistancy. Maybe if you add a banana it would be creamier??
