Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
EXCELLENT cookie!!! I used butter flavored Crisco instead of butter (same amount) and I DID grease the cookie sheet and I feel that did help, the edges were crunchy and the center was chewy, that is my perfect cookie right there! Thanks for the recipe!!

Really great! Fast and easy too!! Chicken is SOOOO moist and crispy on the outside. I used Italian style breadcrumbs and all the seasonings listed and it was perfect. Great with potatoes! Will be making again!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
Exactly what I wanted ! It was VERY flaky. I have a lot of upper back problems and wasn't looking forward to all the rolling of the dough, but this rolled out so easy ! TY for the post ! The taste, made as said with all the shortening, was very, very good. Someday will try the suggestions of using partly butter also depending on the pie. his was for an apple one.

I baked this for a gathering this week. I was worried it wouldn't be good enough, but it was PERFECT ! I wanted something that the "older" folks could relate to as "old fashioned" cooking and it did so VERY Well ! TY It did though take forever to cook I am not sure why.

Ewww this wasn't at all chocolaty or even NEAR good. I wish as many have said, I had read the reviews first ! sure do wish this "brownie" was taken OFF the site. Almost always is this my favorite cooking site.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
All I can say is FABULOUS!!! Incredible color, taste, and smell! Very easy to make too. Dense and chocolaty (for those of you who said that it wasn't or was too bland, perhaps you should use better quality ingredients, they DO make a difference) but not sickly sweet. Just an all over beautiful cake! Will DEF. be making this one from now on!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
By far THE BEST peanut butter frosting I have had!!! Came out very fluffy, not too peanut buttery but had enough flavor, sweet but not too sweet (if you like sickening sweet frostings you wont like this one) and NOT greasy which most peanut butter frostings tend to be. AWESOME!!! Will be using this recipe for my peanut butter frosting from now on. (Great with Dark Chocolate Cake I from this site!!!)

Baked Candied Tomatoes

Went easy on the sugar and doubled the tomatoes - good thing as there wasn't anything left. Short time under the broiler gave a "crunch" to the topping

Creamy Cheddar Cheese Soup

Thank you Maureen ! This recipe for cheese soup is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. I had this soup back in the 80s at a very nice restraunt in the Old Port (Portland ME) here. They have since closed and how I have MISSED having this. We top it with bacon pieces.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
Both my picky sister and husband loved this. I took the advice of others and added a packet of taco seasoning, but next time I'll probably only do half a package as it overpowered the dish a bit and became more of a "taco pie." Served it with sour cream and it was delicious! I used 3 tortillas per layer and I let it rest for about 10 minutes before trying to slice it up. I think that helped because we didn't have the soupy mess some people seem to have had. We probably could have just used 2 tortillas per layer.

Individual Beef Wellingtons

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
As my very happy husband remarked..."Restaurant quality!" Super easy and quite tasty. I omitted the parsley because I forgot to buy it, but I put the mushrooms and onions in the food processor prior to sauteeing in the brandy and butter as was suggested and it was a great idea. I served this with spinach sauteed in garlic and olive oil and baby carrots. Delicious!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Delicious! We had this for a Saturday lunch and I served it with some fries. My husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and this was perfect. Didn't add the sherry because we didn't have it on hand, but it was still delicious!

We love this recipe! It has become a weekly favorite in our home. I leave out the mushrooms and carrots, but keep everything else the same. I think the key is the chicken broth - it gives it a wonderful depth of flavor!

Seashell Supper

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2006
I made this dish once before exactly as it was written, but my husband and I were not super impressed - it tasted quite watery and a little bland. However, I made it tonight with a few changes - I left out the water completely, I used a 28oz. can of diced tomatoes with the juice, and a 14 oz. can of tomato sauce. It was delicious!!

Simple Savory Pork Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
This was SO delicious! My roast was a little bigger than 3lbs but probably under 5lbs. I doubled the herb mix. It didn't say to chop the rosemary but I did. Then I rubbed on instead of shaking and let it sit for a couple hours before roasting. It had such a nice flavor and everyone loved it. I wish there were more leftovers.
