Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
So delicious and chocolatey! Describing these as brownie cookies is very accurate (and what could POSSIBLY be wrong with that combo?!). They are also so pretty; a beautiful winter cookie. I didn't make any changes to the recipe and I baked them for about 11 minutes in my electric oven. I will make more of these this month for sure!

Chicken Marsala Florentine

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I was a little skeptical to make this after reading some of the reviews, but I am so glad that I made it anyways. This is absolutely delicious. The only change I made was to double the veggies, and therefore I doubled the sauce. I also decreased the amount of butter to about 3 tablespoons, because 3/4 cup is scary for something that is not a dessert. This is definite a recipe to make if you want to impress someone. It is quick, easy and absolutely delicious. I will definitely be making this again.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
STUPENDOUS! Mine & my family's taste buds were in HEAVEN! =0 ) I followed the directions as written. Then I added a bayleaf to the bottom of the pan. I grated 1/4 of a sweet onion and also placed that under the skin with the butter. I sliced the rest of the onion & inserted that into the cavity with rosemary and 1/4 cup of white wine. The results were absolutely AMAZING! And what a FABULOUS taste the pan gravy had!

Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
The crust was very tasty and easy, but there's no way you will ever use a full 1/2 cup of water. I used 1/2 unsalted butter and 1/2 shortening and only a 1/4 cup of ice cold water (I filled a big bowl with ice cubes and measured out of the bowl), plus maybe another teaspoon water. I was using my food processor - pulse flour/salt and butter/shortening until it forms pea sized pieces, then add the water until it forms a ball. Again, don't over process the dough. As soon as it forms a ball, wrap it up and put it in the fridge.

Deep Dish Potato and Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Since I used dried thyme, I reduced the amount, but still found this very heavy on thyme. Also, I didn't care for the corn with the squash & potatoes. There are several other butternut squash recipes I prefer over this, so it's unlikely we'll make it again (with or without the crust).

Oatmeal Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
MMM, delicious!! I subbed 2 cups of wheat flour for 2 cups of all purpose and it made them all the more delicious. A note about the time posted for this recipe: they will NOT be ready in an hour start to finish. They take about 3 hours, but about 2 of those are rise time. They're absolutely worth the time and effort though!

Stunning! I love apple pie, but never liked apple cake because it wasn't moist enough-- this takes care of that. Super easy to make, and soooo delicious.

Italian Meat Loaves

I made these with pork, and they were absolutely delish. I did add more Parmesan than was called for, and I have to admit that my husband took the leftovers to work to heat up, and... not so great. But the night we had them they were hearty, healthy, and such great comfort food!

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Definitely had to double the vanilla and the topping mix, but other than that... WONDERFUL! The brown sugar topping was a huge hit, it reheated beautifully, and I soooo prefer it to it's marshmallow topped counterpart!

Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Bacon Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
Everyone loved this but the minute I said bacon they made a funny face, I almost had to talk some people into eating it, but once they did they enjoy it. Also my niece, who hates chocolate gobbled these down. I did use 8 slices of regular bacon, I just added a little maple syrup to the batter. This is a great way to use up some left over bacon. I will make these again.
