Caramel-Glazed Flan

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
ok! let me tell u my story. I've been making this flan and I absolutely love it! so yesterday I wanted to make it for my in-laws (who are from Puerto Rico). I wanted to bake it, cool it and then send it home with my brother-in-law. As I'm putting everything together, out of all the times that I've made this, I actually paid very special attention to the directions to make sure it comes out perfect. And I realize that the recipe calls for water IN THE MIX!! well, all this time, I never added water. All this time I just thought that was the water they wanted you to boil and since I never paid any mind to that part, because I felt that you need alot more than 1 3/4 cups I always just dismissed that part. And yesterday I realize that you put water in the mix. So of course I can't remember if I ever added water before or maybe I just forgot about that part. I add the water! disaster!!! first of all, it takes alot longer than 1 hour. If you omit the water it's an hour, but with the water no! it's more like an hour and a half. and on top of that, I let it cool in the oven. I decided I will not send it home with him because now I'm worried about how its going to taste. So i took it out of the oven, i cut a piece, and its "eggy/raw". So i went to toss it and my husband suggested that i put it in the fridge and see what happens tomorrow. Well, it came out fabulous! but I'm glad i didn't send it to my in-laws. Next time!

Vanilla Ice Cream VIII

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
I agree with some reviews, it was more like a sweet slush. It was good, but I'm looking for a creamier ice cream. I think that's the difference between this recipe and recipes that call for heavy cream and maybe boiling it all. But it's a nice, simple recipe.

This is absolutely delicious. A little too much oregano for us though, but other then that, great! After I tried it this way, I did add some things that I thought would make it better for us and it did. But still the recipe itself is great.

Definitely toss with olive oil/other to prevent from sticking. I used salt and pepper and tossed halfway through. Really good. something different!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

This was so much fun to make. Definitely make extra topping, just double the recipe! It was very good and moist! will definitely make again. It took longer than 40 minutes though. At 40 minutes the outside was cooked and browning, but right in the middle was undone and loose. I cooked it for an additional 15-20 minutes and it was done.

Waffles I

My husband and I loved these. I followed the first step, put all the dry ingredients in one bowl, put that into the eggs along with the milk and oil and that's all! creamy texture. It thought it may have been too thin, but it wasn't, it was perfect! Served with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, syrup and a little butter ball (melon scooper). Delicious!

This is really amazing. I made this for my bridal shower a few weeks ago and I got rave reviews. People couldnt get enough. Luckily I made lots and lots of it. I made home made guacamole and used vegetarian refried beans. After sprinkling the cheese on top I put it in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
This cake is amazing! Wow. This is the first time I made carrot cake. I shredded almost a full bag of small carrots to make 3 cups. I also added a dash of all spice and a small amount of cloves. I did not have vegetable oil, so I used corn oil and I didn't add salt because I didn't have any. The icing recipe is on this site, but the confectioners sugar is half the amount. I prefer it that way. It tastes perfect! I think 3 or 4 cups would be too sweet. I did add the pecans on top, but just a little for a nice presentation. Thanks for sharing!

Crispy edges, chewy inside, yes! perfect size, texture and thickness. I didn't give it 5 stars though because the cookie itself tasted good, but not perfect for me. But I will definitely continue this recipe until I find the perfect one.
