Crescents, NOT Croissants!! Don't be confused. They are nothing like Croissants. These were very good with a touch of sweetness. Served with jam and cheese (sweet and savory) Both delicious!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
This recipe was fantastic! I substituted buttermilk for water, heated it and added 2 ounces of bakers chocolate stirring until melted. It was a nice extra kick of flavor. It can be a little difficult to get out of the pan (my first one crumbled). Luckily I had enough batter for a second cake and I used parchment paper that time, worked like a charm, the cake came out perfectly intact. Everyone loved the cake, it's great with a lemon buttercream, but I bet plain vanilla would be wonderful as well!

This was the first time I made this or using yeast for that matter. I added more flour as the dough was very sticky still. This tasted great!

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
Listened to other reviewers and used about 2/3 cup lemon juice as well as a teensy bit extra sugar in the crust. I can see how this would make for really thin bars in a 9x13 pan. I used an 8x8 and reduced the amount of crust. Also added zest to the filling. Came out beautiful! My boyfriend loves them! Also I used a silicone baking dish and just peeled it back and slid the whole thing free, worked like a charm.

Ricotta Cheese Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This recipe is EXCELLENT. When it is warm it tastes like Custard Pie and it is even better chilled. The only thing I changed is I added a splash more vanilla and it didn't even need the powdered sugar. I can't stop eating it and I usually don't eat cake!!! A+++++

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
ok. I guess I'm not going to rate this yet, because although the taste was great, mine came out soupy, not creamy at all! I used short grain rice (it's all I had) and followed the recipe exactly. I'm not sure what happened? Update: One review said that sitting out while it cools or refrigeration will not thicken it up, true! So I decided to throw out some of the "water" until rice level and re-boil unlit thick. I also decided to , shut off, sit a few minutes and re-boil again. It did the trick! it's thick. Now I will cool and see what happens. It came out perfect!!! I guess I added too much milk. I made this second time and measured right. PERFECT! Everyone loved this, even the "non fans" of rice pudding.

I don't know what it was because there were good reviews about this recipe but I just didn't care for it much. But I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 because some people told me they liked it. (Maybe they were lying!)

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

This was pretty amazing! I used 'Taste of India'- Hot Curry Paste and some minced garlic as well. I also used diced bell peppers and than blended it all together. Then i dropped in some canned straw mushrooms. After i poured the soup into serving bowls I sprinkled the top with some diced bell peppers and a little cilantro.

Caramel-Glazed Flan

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
ok! let me tell u my story. I've been making this flan and I absolutely love it! so yesterday I wanted to make it for my in-laws (who are from Puerto Rico). I wanted to bake it, cool it and then send it home with my brother-in-law. As I'm putting everything together, out of all the times that I've made this, I actually paid very special attention to the directions to make sure it comes out perfect. And I realize that the recipe calls for water IN THE MIX!! well, all this time, I never added water. All this time I just thought that was the water they wanted you to boil and since I never paid any mind to that part, because I felt that you need alot more than 1 3/4 cups I always just dismissed that part. And yesterday I realize that you put water in the mix. So of course I can't remember if I ever added water before or maybe I just forgot about that part. I add the water! disaster!!! first of all, it takes alot longer than 1 hour. If you omit the water it's an hour, but with the water no! it's more like an hour and a half. and on top of that, I let it cool in the oven. I decided I will not send it home with him because now I'm worried about how its going to taste. So i took it out of the oven, i cut a piece, and its "eggy/raw". So i went to toss it and my husband suggested that i put it in the fridge and see what happens tomorrow. Well, it came out fabulous! but I'm glad i didn't send it to my in-laws. Next time!
