Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
STUPENDOUS! Mine & my family's taste buds were in HEAVEN! =0 ) I followed the directions as written. Then I added a bayleaf to the bottom of the pan. I grated 1/4 of a sweet onion and also placed that under the skin with the butter. I sliced the rest of the onion & inserted that into the cavity with rosemary and 1/4 cup of white wine. The results were absolutely AMAZING! And what a FABULOUS taste the pan gravy had!

LOVE THIS! I've been making this recipe for years, we LOVE it. It is delicious as written and it is delicious if you want to add various seasonings etc to change it up a bit. This is a foolproof recipe for a wonderful meal. A great base recipe.

Pierogi from Granny

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
Awesome! My Stepdad's mom was Polish and I loved her dearly She was 101 when she passed and eating these makes me think of her & her wonderful kithchen - she made the best and this is the closest to her's. I pretty much think its common sense to break up the meat when its going to be stuffed in dough, but thats just me :) - I find that the dough works best for me when I form a long snake shape, slice rounds from it and then flatten further into nice circles, a touch of the rolling pin and wallah! Sometimes I add a bit of seasoning to the dough too - A recipe is a guide, not a rigid unbending law - after all everyone has different tastes, stoves and probably hubbys that are picky, picky, picky! (he loves these pierogi's though) thanks silkdiver :)

Whipped Horseradish Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
Outstanding! I love horseradish and I could kick myself for not trying to create this myself - very simple to make and enjoyable for everyone whether they like the heat or hate it :) I use it on nearly everything! I do think I'd like to experiment with it as well... a little teensy bit of garlic....

Maryland Crab Cakes III

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I made these last night - but I didnt have real lump crab. I had to use the imitation crab, because I just couldnt wait to try this. I know that for purists that might be a mortal sin, but it turned out FANTASTIC. My guy said "it's the best thing I have ever eaten in my life" Now I have to go out and get the real lump crab - which will probably curl his hair :) and get me flowers :) Thanks!

This was very good. I did decrease the amount of flour like others had said. I used 1 Tbsp. flax seed oil and 1 Tbsp. butter, instead of 2 Tbsp. butter. Mainly for health reasons. It was excellent! Thank you.

Thank you for this great recipe! I did follow other reviews by pureeing one can of white beans to add some thickness and adding the cheese at the end. I didn't think it was very spicy at all. We ate it with tortilla chips. Great for a cool spring day!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
I rated 5 stars because it TRULY IS the BEST! Creamy, rich, filling and flavorful= as long as you add celery-3 stalks chopped, 1/2 onion- grated, & carrots- grated) I threw in 1/2 tsp of minced garlic. SAUTEE all together till soft. I also cooked the rice seperately till al dente & saved the seasoning packet top add to the soup mixture later. ABSOLUTEWLY THE BEST CREAMY CHICKEN & WILD RICE SOUP I'VE EVER TASTED. It will be hard NOT to make this EVERY week! =')

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
This soup is easy and delicious! I made a few changes by using only 1/2 stick of butter and light cream instead of heavy, also an extra leek. After cooking, I blended the soup so there wouldn't be such large chunks, but left it a little chunky. It turned out great! I like to add a few dashes of Tabasco and it may be good with some real bacon bits. I might follow another review and make some into clam chowder. Thank you for an awesome recipe!

I added Worcestershire sauce, fresh diced potatoes, fresh carrots, frozen peas, corn& green beans.... oregano, basil, rosemary, a little onion & garlic powder, celery seed and 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water to make the consistancey more of a STOUP. Delicious!! Thanks for the starter recipe!
