Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
First, I agree with those who dislike reading reviews of the reviewer's recipe rather than the one one the website. That said, I made this pretty much as written, but used roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup, since chicken and tuna didn't sound like a good combination to me. I liked the garlic soup much better than the regular COM I use in tuna casserole. The canned french fried onions really added a nice kick.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
My pie tasted great, and this recipes definitely deserves the 5 stars based on taste. However, my pie was really really watery. I used both granny smith apples and some red/yellow apples (not sure what type exactly) and I used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose. Any ideas/suggestions on what went wrong or what I could do to prevent a watery pie next time? Thanks!

This is a fantastic recipe and I make it often. The only change I make is to use 1/4 cup butter. It is still rich and delicious, and is always gobbled up.

My fiance really liked this, but it was a little to tart for me. I'll make again, but not use as much lime juice or not marinate for as long as I did (overnight/24hrs)

Boy! did my husband like this one. I used Bisquick and also sauteed the onion first (we like it well cooked) and it was delicious.

Homemade Focaccia Bread

I substituted whole wheat flour for at least half of the flour and I used honey instead of sugar. It was terrific. It was perfect for the Basil Pesto Sunshine Sandwich recipe on allrecipes.com. My husband and I loved it!

Basil Pesto Sunshine Sandwich

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
This recipe was a real winner with my husband and I. I used my homemade whole wheat focaccia, I left out the mayo and I used my homemade basil pesto. They kept nicely in the fridge for several days wrapped tightly in foil so my husband could take them to work. I'll definitely make this one again and again.

This dough is great in a pinch. It was Very dense. I added italian seasoning to it for some flavor. We will definitely use this again if pressed for time. Jay's signature crust is great if you have the time.

Cheesy Italian Tortellini

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
If you're going to cook a sauce in a crockpot for 7 hours, you may as well save some money and use canned tomatoes instead of prepared pasta sauce and make a sauce to your liking. Also, cheddar is so not Italian. However, cooking the fresh tortellini in the crockpot is a great idea; makes a great tasting tortellini.

Hot German Potato Salad III

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
I was a bit nervous serving this to my family - different for potato salad here. My son who does not like cold salads, loved it! I thought it was quite tasty too. I have a tendency to cook without tasting (smelling is a different story) and tweeking recipes even on the first time. Because I have never had this in any shape or form, I followed directions exactly as printed. Very good with rave reviews from the entire family. Will make again and again.

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
Fantastic! Since I used garlic salt and celery salt, I only added an additional 1 Tbsp salt figuring that I could always add more. I'm glad I didn't add 2 Tbsp, because the 1 was just the right amount. Also, I didn't have canola oil, so I used olive oil, which I had on hand. It was absolutely delicious and so easy! No more store bought Italian dressing for me!! Thank you for submitting this!

Tortellini Salad I

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
This recipe blew us away. My husband raved and raved over it. I did alter it a bit. I added grilled chicken. I also added cucumber and omitted the green pepper. I used green onions and replaced the parsley with cilantro. Because the type of vinegar wasn't specified, I went with balsamic. Also I did not chill it for at least 4 hours and instead served it as soon as I finished preparing it. Thank you for this one! It will be served over and over in our house.

Needs a little something. Maybe some orange zest and a longer marinade time. Or frozen juice concentrate instead of orange juice.

This is a standby for me. Everyone loves it. You can also make it with frozen artichoke hearts for a little less sodium. Sprinkle a few capers on top. Top with a little paprika or cayenne. Use boneless chicken thighs for the dark meat lovers.
