very good. Next time I will chop the onion very fine and use a little less onion so as not to have the "oniony bite"

Bavarian Apple Torte

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
I just baked this and man it is nice. It looks like I paid $20 for it at a bakery. I used an 11" tart pan because that's what I have, and I have to say, this worked out great. Baked for the recipe's minimum recommended time and it set just fine, isn't runny or anything. The crust was so easy to make, I just stirred it up with my hand. For a beautiful presentation it is so worth the effort to arrange the apple slices neatly "It's not a work of art it's food," no it's a work of art.

Made as said...didn't change a thing. Should have doubled the recipe...we didn't have left-overs to "firm up". Though the mumbling, I think I heard my son say it's "a keeper". LOVED this...thanks for sharing

Easiest, Amazing Guacamole

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
really great and just as easy as it says! the only reason i gave it 4 stars was bc i usually like my guacamole to contain some pico de gallo so that is exactly what i did. i had a container of store bought "fresh salsa" (pico de gallo) and i mixed some in. very delicious!

Grandpa McAndrew's Irish Soda Bread

I followed this recipe almost to the letter (plus the 1/2 t salt recommended by someone and using both currants and raisins) and it was just blah. I'm not sure why people have liked this so much - heavy and tasteless. It's edible with butter and jam.

Best Breakfast Cookie

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
Very good and a nice change of pace for kids' breakfast. As most do, I made a few alterations. I used about 3/4 applesauce in place of the prune puree. I ground the oats a little. Also omitted the dried apricots and walnuts. -->not for my kids :( Instead I used a full cup of raisins and a few milk chocolate chips for a hint of chocolate. (less than a 1/4 cup). I cut back on the sugar some since I was adding the chips. I also had to add a few drops of water to add a little moisture to stir the batter. Next time, I may add two of the egg yolks for a little added moisture, softness and protein. Also may add little apple chunks or pineapple chunks for variety. And could add some powdered milk for calcium or add flaxseed. The variations are endless! Anyway, very good recipe and the kids love them. They even asked for a few in their lunch! And still less sugar than most commercial cereals.

Very good. I didn't have fresh parsley so i used 1/4 cup of dried, but it was still a bit too much. I'll use less next time. I used fresh garlic and Locatelli cheese. Yummy! My kids loved it and asked for seconds (that rarely happens) Very quick and easy!

Made this tonight for dinner. DH liked it, I thought the sauce was a little salty. I guess that was was the beef boullion cube, or maybe cause I quit smoking and everything just taste salty. Anyway I will make this again.

I added turkey pepperoni and a little spinach... awesome. My husband it looked too good to eat...well almost because he almost forgot to save some for me and ate it all. You can put almost anything inside. I might try broccoli and cheese next time.

Southern Comfort Manhattan

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
I think "a really bad manhattan" is an oxymoron. Matter of fact, a couple of these & I become a moron-- just ask my wife. However, I personally prefer a ratio of 3 Southern Comfort to 1 DRY vermouth ( Martini & Rossi), a twist of lemon- stirred not shaken-- & on the rocks. And please , no bitters.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
I read the reviews and did as they stated: only adding 4TBL of Tahini and 2TBL of Lemon, which worked better to my tastes. Added a 1/2 tsp of cumin and I also kept the drained water to add back to the mix to give it a consistency I liked. However, it was entirely too salty. I suggest decreasing the salt by 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. Great starter recipe though. All the others on the website didn't have the ingredients (or the reviews) this one did.

Thai Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
This has a very nice flavor... not over the top, but a nice thai flavor. I used one dried chili pepper in place of the fresh and it had a nice warmth to it. I also used butternut squash in place of pumpkin. Please note that this makes a fairly thin soup; if you were looking for a bisque consistency you may want to decrease the amount of broth. Enjoy!
