Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce

The dipping sauce is outstanding. Although my first ever blooming onion didn't turn out like the pictures on here, I will attempt to make it again!

Candied Yams

I always use fresh potatos boiled, then mashed with a fork. "I cant believe its not Butter" has a great FAT-FREE butter. I also add Cinnamon and Nutmeg. I alwayz mix a little marshmallows in with the potato mixture for extra "marshmallow surprises" =] This dish turned out awesome!!!!!

Green Bean Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
I used fat-free milk and Campbells makes a 98% fat-free cream of mushroom soup now... anyhoo.. it turned out GREAT! I made it for Thanksgiving and it was almost all gone. Oh I used frozen green beans also, instead of canned. Not as good, a little crunchier (fresher), but Jillian Michaels says cans release toxins in ur food...

Sicilian Spaghetti

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
I'm sorry but this was one of the worst pasta dishes I have ever made from this site. The amount of bread crumbs called for in the recipie far outweighed any of the other flavors. I couldn't even taste the anchovies which should tell you something. I will not make this recipie again.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
This dip was 'okay', I added garlic powder, it wasn't addictingly good like other dips I had made...I omitted the milk and added a little sour cream. It lacked something....wasn't sure what. Won't be making again.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I used Hershey Special Dark Cocoa. The cake is brown but does not have a chocolate flavor at all and the great part is that the cake is not super sweet. It is very moist but not chocolatey enough and I used coffee to add depth. Made a four layer cake and I added chocolate mousse in between the layer which incread the chocolate flavor of the overall cake. I would definitely make again.

Cheesy Apple and Oat Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
This was nice and dense and made a fantastic leftover cold meatloaf sandwich. I did want more apple flavor. And the cheese was a bit salty/overpowering. Next time I'll try upping the apple a bit, and reducing the cheese.

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
This was *fantastic*!! I will definitely be making this again. Next time I'll try adding some extra firm tofu. I peeled and chopped the potatoes before roasting to get some nice color and roasted flavor. I tossed them in a very small amount of vegetable oil to prevent sticking/burning. I also grated the ginger as I didn't want to bite into a chunk of ginger. I didn't need the whole teaspoon of salt, I only added about 1/2 teaspoon and it was plenty. And like the other reviewers, I don't think it needs the sesame oil. But the freshness of the cilantro was a nice finish.

Vegetable Beef Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
This was incredibly easy, and thickened up nicely. But I found the flavor a bit sweet for my liking. I think the combination of the butternut squash (which is sweet) plus the dried fruit was a bit much. Next time I'll try leaving out the dried fruit and add some onions for a more savory flavor.

Spaghetti Sauce IV

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
This recipie was not what I was expecting. It tasted closer to a marinara sauce, yet bland. I think it needs something in it to bring out more of a tomato taste. I do love marinara sauce, but not with my lasagna or spaghetti sauce. However, it wasn't the watery or oily nightmare that some reviewers stated. I followed as written and it thickened up just fine. I also found that it thickened a little more when I let it sit overnight in the fridge and reheated the next day. So all and all the consistency was perfect for my taste.

Spaghetti Squash with Pine Nuts, Sage, and Romano

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
I thought this would be a good flavor combination since I like pine nuts with brie and honey and I like sage and I like spaghetti squash, but it just didn't taste good together. The pine nuts were overpowering the whole thing. I gave it 3 stars because I'm thinking I am the odd ball here.

These rolls were amazing, very delicious. I didn't form them into crescent shapes because it was so sticky to work with, I just roll them into balls and rise and bake it as directed.

This is the second time I made this and it was COMPLETELY different! This time, I loved it. I used a pumpkin pie spice instead of straight cinnamon and it was AWESOME. It is good warm or cold and is like a delicious apple pie filling!
