Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
As previous reviewers suggested, I made this with tomato sauce instead of tomato juice and diced tomatoes instead of the sauce. I also used 1c chopped peppers. Incredibly tasty! Not too spicy, has a little kick though.

Irish Cream Creme Brulee

Just as a note 3 tb of Baileys is approx. 1 airplane bottle, if you want to try it without buying the whole bottle. If you do end up buying the whole bottle, but don't like to drink it, may I recommend the Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecakes also on this site. --Grace

French Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
I can't keep this bread in the house because my boyfriend can scarf a whole loaf in a day! I've been making it for both soup and sandwiches, and if I can ever keep a loaf for more than a day I'd like to try making croutons or french toast with it!

Pumpkin Soup

Really yummy. I pumped up the spices with lots of thyme, sage, 8 peppercorns, 1 allspice berry, a pinch of cinnamon and tumeric, and blended it all up nicely with an immersion blender. I served it with a dollop of yogurt which was SO yummy.

Turkey Macaroni Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
i had soo much fun playing with this one. I took the tip of another reviewer, "vegasescapee," and used the cheese from box macaroni. Velveeta shells n cheese has a 2%milk recipe now [[half the fat]], the cheese was sooo good. I sprinkled in Kraft fat-free cheddar, fresh chopped broccoli, onions, and for the pasta I used whole wheat macaroni (i didnt use the shells). I topped it with the Kraft cheddar, and crushed up Acme-brand cheese and garlic croutons. SOOOOOooo good, and this was the LAST of the turkey from Thanksgiving, so this ones a WINNER! =]

Really Easy Bread Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I tried this out and I was kind of disappointed. I did as other reviewers suggested and I sauteed onions and celery in butter then used that to moisten the bread. It was too buttery for my taste and my boyfriend didn't like it either. It may actually be better with just the water. It did look pretty though, and I submitted a picture because there wasn't one up there yet.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
This cake was spectacular. VERY moist. I didn't have buttermilk so I used a tablespoon of lemon juice and the rest of the cup 2% milk. I was worried but it worked out very well. This will be the only chocolate cake recipe I use in the future.

Eggnog II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I love egg nog and I have been wanting to try making it for years and I'm glad I found this recipe to begin with. I did make it a bit differently. As the others suggested, I did use a double boiler and it worked out great. Also, I am not on a diet but I am trying to eat better, so I substituted the milk with some fat free half and half for 2/3 of the milk amount and then fat free condensed milk for 1/3 of the milk amount. It makes the egg nog extremely creamy which is how I like it. I also used the Splenda/sugar blend for the sugar amount listed in the recipe. Even with the changes that I made to this recipe, it truly was the best egg nog I've ever had. Prior to serving the egg nog, however, I give a splash of ameretto and then garnish with just a little bit of nutmeg. I skipped the mixing in of the whipping cream since it was already creamy enough and felt this was a step that was not necessary. I also believe, that without any changes that I made, the recipe will be one of the best egg nogs you've ever tasted.

Delicious!! Thank you for a diabetic friendly recipe for waffles. My children and husband are thrilled. The only thing I did different was I beat the egg whites separately and then folded them in at the end. They were light and fluffly and had a great flavor. Thanks again!

Sausage Barley Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
This is a wonderfully hearty stew-like soup. Like several of the reviewers, I doubled the carrot, and increased the barley to 1/3 cup. Because my sausage was highly seasoned, I chose to only add salt and pepper to the soup rather than more Italian seasoning. I've also made this using fresh kale and it was fantastic!

I always use fresh potatos boiled, then mashed with a fork. "I cant believe its not Butter" has a great FAT-FREE butter. I also add Cinnamon and Nutmeg. I alwayz mix a little marshmallows in with the potato mixture for extra "marshmallow surprises" =] This dish turned out awesome!!!!!

Green Bean Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
I used fat-free milk and Campbells makes a 98% fat-free cream of mushroom soup now... anyhoo.. it turned out GREAT! I made it for Thanksgiving and it was almost all gone. Oh I used frozen green beans also, instead of canned. Not as good, a little crunchier (fresher), but Jillian Michaels says cans release toxins in ur food...

Sicilian Spaghetti

I'm sorry but this was one of the worst pasta dishes I have ever made from this site. The amount of bread crumbs called for in the recipie far outweighed any of the other flavors. I couldn't even taste the anchovies which should tell you something. I will not make this recipie again.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

This dip was 'okay', I added garlic powder, it wasn't addictingly good like other dips I had made...I omitted the milk and added a little sour cream. It lacked something....wasn't sure what. Won't be making again.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I used Hershey Special Dark Cocoa. The cake is brown but does not have a chocolate flavor at all and the great part is that the cake is not super sweet. It is very moist but not chocolatey enough and I used coffee to add depth. Made a four layer cake and I added chocolate mousse in between the layer which incread the chocolate flavor of the overall cake. I would definitely make again.
