Aunt Phyllis' Magnificent Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This was okay, it was just too mild for me. I think maybe adding Nacho cheese or some sort of spices might have helped give this more zing for my taste. Not super flavorful. Maybe I should have added more onions...

Lemon Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Amazing. My husband loves lemon flavor and I do not, but I LOVED this!! We offered it with a variety of crackers and my favorites were the big Wheat Thins OR sour cream crackers, strangely enough. Yes, the lemon was light and what I thought were contrasting flavors were actually complementary! Terrific recipe.

Hot Bacon Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Huge hit!! Made this for the first time 2 days ago. It was everyone's favorite - and I even liked it and I'm not a big fan of bacon. I didn't put it in the bread loaf, even though I bought it. I ended up putting it into a fondue pot that someone just gave me as a gift. It wasn't really fluid enough for the fondue pot but again, it was fantastic. Will definitely make this again!! Thanks for this great recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
Very good and filling. I did make a couple of changes based on what I had. I used one large previously baked chicken breast, shredded and instead of the beer, I used 12 oz of the stock from "Simple Carnitas" from this site. Put all in the crock pot and simmered 2 hours on high. I don't even need the extras. And without the cheese, sour cream, and tortillas it is an extremely healthy soup. Thanks for sharing!

Rosemary Mashed Potatoes and Yams

This is my go-to mashed potatoes recipe for any big event. It's always a hit. I usually have people come up to me and say, "I don't usually like yams, but I loved this!"

Tzatziki

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
My first time making Tzatziki! This was a big hit with 9 out of the 10 people at dinner! We served it with homemade seasoned steak gyros. The 10th person just doesn't eat yogurt in any form so even a hint of the flavor turned him off. However, this was a fun recipe to make (grating the cukes!!) and it made a lot!! I served it again 2 days later with a salad on which we threw cooked breaded chicken nuggets and everyone went crazy for the sauce again.

BREAKSTONE'S Simply Citrus Cream Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
Very good citrus theme/flavor. Oldest son prefers citrus to chocolate, so I made this (along with another Allrecipe - Triple Chocolate Bliss Cake=A+). However, I made ONE change... instead of white cake I used ORANGE flavored boxed cake mix. The orange went beautifully with the lemon pudding. The frosting was especially good!

Mary's Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
very crumbly and hard to work with... had to re-roll four or five times to cut down on the cracking. They taste great with frosting, but if you're looking for a cookie to just decorate with colored granulated sugar, keep looking.

Meatloaf with Fried Onions and Ranch Seasoning

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I reallly enjoyed this recipe, and our youngest daughter thought it was terrific. I gave it only 4/5 because the other adults didn't think it was a standout, though they enjoyed it. I had doubled the recipe, and next time I believe I will try to add even more of the Ranch flavoring for the hard-to-please adults.

Amish Sugar Cakes

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
These cookies are just ok. But having been born and raised in Amish country I can assure you that they are NOT real Amish sugar cakes. They came out way too flat and aren't dense like the authentic version. I even tried putting the dough in the fridge for awhile but that didn't help at all.

I have made these several times now and they certainly live up to their name. I add a couple of splashes of worchestershire sauce and sub out the parsley with whatever I have on hand. Thank you for sharing this absolutely delicious recipe.

Very good, very easy, very tasty. I put a bone-in roast in my crock pot, filled with ingredients as directed and it all fell apart at dinner time. Nice flavor; six year old DD could not stop raving about how good it is. Thank you for sharing Ken!

Pumpkin Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Made pretty much as directed except that I halved the white sugar in the recipe and subbed brown sugar for the crumble topping (also reduced to about 1/3 cup). My hubby, who does not care for pumpkin, said it was very good. There were enough flavors going on that he didn't just taste pumpkin. DD loved her "pumpkin pie cake." Thanks for sharing a recipe that the whole family could agree on!

Ham Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
I've been using this recipe to take care of leftover ham for years. I did change things up a little when I made it last night. I sauteed the onion for a few minutes before adding, added the juice from half of a lemon, and used Dijonaise instead of the dijon mustard. The Dijonaise is creamier and took the bite out of the regular mustard. Very good. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet N Sour Meatballs

I made my own meatballs to add to this fabulous sauce. Only other change I made was to use half red pepper and half green. I served over rice for dinner and served the leftovers in crusty sub rolls. A nice change from the same old tomato sauce meatballs. Thanks for sharing.

Felix K.'s 'Don't even try to say these aren't the best you've ever eaten, because they are' Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I usually like to make my cc cookies w/chunky peanut butter and walnuts. DH wanted just chocolate chip cookies. These have been recommended a lot on the exchange, so I gave it a try and I was not disappointed. The only change I made was to sub half whole wheat flour for the ap. Compliments from the entire family! Thank you for sharing.
