Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
This was awesome! I did add vanilla bean to the custard and topped with melted caramel. Really nice to make a "real" filling instead of instant pudding.

These were perfect! I added dried cranberries and made them into mini muffins and they were a huge hit with everyone.

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
I live in africa and can't get breakfast sausage - this recipe has made me a VERY happy Peace Corps Volunteer!! I will admit I change it up a bit, I don't have marjoram here, so I skip it. I also use 3+ tsp of sage and liquid splenda instead of brown sugar. I don't measure the pepper or red pepper but I bet I use about double of the red pepper. So normally I hate to rate a recipe and then list the changes, but the point is that this recipe can be tweaked to your individual tastes with salt, sage, sweetness and heat. Will make this even when I get back to America!!!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
This has to be the easiest thing I have ever made in the crock pot! It almost feels like cheating to have something so delicious come out at the end of the day, get so many rave reviews, and know I did very little to deserve the praise! It's a flexible recipe and I will probably try some others suggestions of adding vegetables and such but try it exactly as the recipe reads the first time. You will not be disappointed! I actually have this in the crock pot right now, can't wait to come home to a delicious smelling house this evening!

Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I'm lactose intolerant...I used vanilla soymilk in place of milk and followed the rest of the recipe to the T. It came out perfect! As many people have said, do NOT melt the butter in any way. ALSO, make sure the mixture of flour and milk is fully cool....should almost be gel like.

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I save this in my box to used for a special birthday breakfast and was startled when I found that my roommates ate all of the fresh strawberries and there was no more vanilla extract (cookie season =/), So I ended up using frozen strawberries and strawberry extract, much different recipe but I am thankful for the guidance. It was good!

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I first melted the butter, and added a clove of minced garlic and some Italian seasoning, and let it cook in the melted butter for a minute or so. I then added the cream and let it all warm up. Lastly, I took others' advice and added the cheese a handful at a time. I tossed this with some rotini pasta and sauteed mushrooms and sweet grape tomatoes that I had cooked with salt and garlic. FANTASTIC. Hubby and I both went for seconds! Super easy, too. Can't wait for lunch tomorrow!

Pull-Apart Hot Cross Buns

Good taste. I sprinkled a little sugar and cinnamon on the dough before baking. Also, I made two large braids instead of buns.

Coconut-Avocado Ice Cream

I really wanted to like this, but... it just didn't work for me. I think I need more specific directions about the amount of avocado; the flavor was overpowering - and not in a good way.

Love this recipe. I had to add much more curry powder than stated but it was still really really tasty. I've made it for parties, family functions and barbecues. I never have leftovers.

Nothing special, however it was quick and easy. Probably needs some whipped cream or ice cream on top to make it special.

Seasoned Potato Fries

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
These got rave reviews from the boyfriend. Easy to prepare and full of flavor. I cooked mine a tad bit longer to increase the "crispy" factor. Although boyfriend didn't think so, imo, I went a little overboard on the Italian seasoning and garlic salt (used that in place of garlic powder and salt). Either way, these were a winner! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Little Mickey's Favorite Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
Great recipe! As far as cheesecakes go, this was super easy and came out great. Only thing I changed was excluding chopped peanuts from the crust, so I just added a bit more graham cracker. Next time I might cut the amount of chocolate chips in half, the chocolate seemed to overpower the peanut butter. All in all, a success and I will definitely make it again :)

Fresh Pear Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I'm giving this four stars because I found the batter to be way too thick. It was more like cookie dough. That being said, I added about 1/2 cup milk, which did the trick. The cake baked beautifully and tasted great.

Restaurant Style Chicken Nachos

Bangin'! I used two chicken breasts, no salt, a whole tomato & added corn. I took the suggestion of others to put the chips in the oven to crisp them up for 5 minutes before adding the toppings and had no problem with sogginess. Can't wait to make it again!
