Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
Lovely quiche. I make only one, minor change, I take about 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard, and smear it around the bottom of the pie crust before adding spinach mixture. Just adds a little tang, which we love!

Spooky Halloween Eyeballs

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
These came out soooooo cute. My daughter had a half day of school today, so I made all of the peanut butter balls and just put them in the fridge for a couple of hours, then we did the fun stuff. Be sure to place your mini-chips in as soon as you do the retinas, the white chocolate seemed to set up pretty fast. They do, indeed, taste like peanut butter cups. I already have plans for Christmas, just subbing semi-sweet for white chocolate, and sprinkling with festive decorator sprinkles. Thanks for a great tasting, fun recipe!

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Don't care for the maple sausage, and to make it even simpler, you don't have to remove the sausage, just before it is cooked, sprinkle the flour in and stir it into the sausage and drippings, till the sausage is fully cooked, and the flour looses its "floury" taste, then add milk and whisk till thickened, makes it less messy, and a WHOLE lot easier. Thanks for a nice recipe.

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
Spec-friggin-tacular! I followed the directions exactly and other than the fact that it took a little longer than I expected to get to temp, it worked out perfectly. In the last minute of beating it, I added a 1/2 cup of chopped pecans, just cause I love em. This was wonderful. A great recipe to share with friends, this is a keeper! Thanks!

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Awesome. I used to make something similar with a little Biscuit mix thrown in, which settles to the bottom, kinda, but always seemed "gooey" and grainy. I love this new version! The only thing I did differently is I added about 1/4 diced red pepper, to add a little sweetness to the spinach. Loved it. Husband and Daughter ended up eating more than half before I even got to serve myself. Thanks for this new "Keeper".

One Bowl Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
I made this Exactly as written. YUK. The rice took almost double the time to cook in a oven-safe ceramic covered dish. The flavor was not pleasant. I love rice, fried, pilaf, plain white, but the flavors of these combined ingredients was not something that even I, a rice lover, could tolerate. Guess I'll keep looking for a rice side-dish that is unique and flavorful. Sorry for the poor review, I am usually very forgiving, but this delayed my entire meal, and was not worth the wait.

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
This meatloaf was indeed very moist, almost to the point of being "meat-mush". I followed exact recipe, hate when people change things then make a bad review. Found glaze much too sweet. Perhaps I should have added more acid, vinegar or more lemon than recipe called for. Not my favorite, both my husband and my daughter agreed. Won't be making this again.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I was looking for a quick dessert, and came across this recipe at another site, really was skeptical about the 3 packages of cream cheese, but I figured, what the heck, can't have to much of a good thing, so tried it, minus the almonds, and was really surprised when it turned out so well. Think next time I will try 2 packages of cream cheese, and dot with some pie filling before putting the top layer of dough on. BTY I found "Crescent Recipe" rolls of dough, that you don't have to close the perforations on, it is all one rectangular piece, perfect fit for the 9x13 pan, just remember NOT to spread the filling all the way to the edge of the dough, leave it just before you reach the side of the pan. Great dessert, and soooo simple!!!!!

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
Very good recipe for sandwiches. As for some of the comments about being to spicy, we sure did not feel this was the case, in fact I was thinking about adding some cayenne pepper to it to heat it up some more. Also, the comment about being dry, sure don't know HOW that happened, we had more than enough juice. Followed the recipe exactly, but did use some beef broth as well as the juice from the peppers. Thanks for the new addition to my collection of GREAT recipes!!!

Passover Rolls I

Just like I remember my grandmother's! Remember, these are gebrokts, so if you observe that restriction, you can't eat these until the last day of the holiday! You can cut the oil down to 1/4 cup; I usually use melted schmaltz because it tastes so good, and it's a once-a-year indulgence.

Slow-Cooked Flank Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Yummy! Even my picky kids ate it, but I did have to modify it-I used Italian seasoning instead of the chili powder, and green bell peppers instead of the green chilies. I left out the sugar, and used fresh Garlic because I was out of powdered. I served it with rolls so the family could make Italian Beef Sandwiches and they loved it!

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Perfect. I used a 16X12 stoneware jellyroll pan and had PLENTY of dough. We loved it. The taste was fantastic, and it cooked perfectly. This is my new recipe. Thank you! P.S. I also added a tablespoon of garlic powder... just personal preference, but I think this was tasty enough that it would have been a five star regardless..... Thanks again!

Maple-Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
Please note! Allrecipes.com had altered the recipe compared to my submitting. Butter *must* be room temperature. Sugars, extracts, butter and eggs must be added *together* into a stand mixer bowl. Whipping with a wooden spoon does not get the same result. You must also whip these wets together until completely incorporated and fluffy. The flattening is happening because the butter may not be distributed enough before the flour gets mixed in.

Habanero Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
I'm still fanning the flames after this. I did find myself altering the recipe a bit to purposefully leave out the step of antagonizing the pepper's heat (and therefore use fewer habaneros). It's also of note that you *must* wear gloves and maybe protect your face while handling the peppers. Capsaicin (the irritant that makes the peppers hot) can be extremely bothersome if you don't protect your hands!

Mustard Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
Very very good. We never do fried wings in this house without making them "Buffalo". However, these were very tasty and easy to make. Next time I may substitute dijon for the yellow mustard, or partially perhaps. Nobody else in the house had a problem with the way they are, but I'm not a huge yellow mustard fan, and I could easily taste it coming through. That said, it did indeed make for a tangy marinade that held the flour very well when deep fried. Thanks for a great recipe!

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
The heck with the local bakery on Sunday mornings. These rolls are PERFECT! As another reviewer wrote, I brushed w/melted butter and sprinkled with kosher salt just prior to baking, and these were outstanding. I used my bread machine "dough cycle" and followed recipe from there. I also used my pizza stone with a silicone mat on top to avoid having sticking. These were a huge hit, half were gone before dinner was even served. Thanks for this amazing recipe. This will be a regular in my home for sure!
