Seattle Dutch Babies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2007
I'm giving this a 4 only because it was easy and baked up nice (at a higher temp as suggested by others). However, this was very eggy. I've had Dutch Babies in restaurants before and it's always more like a big pancake/pastry. This is like a sweet omelet.

Creamy Frosting

Sorry but this is disgusting. Tastes like pure butter and looks all curdled. I followed the directions perfectly. Next time I won't be so lazy when I run out of confectioner's sugar.

Double Chocolate Brownie Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
A real winner! I made this for Christmas Eve dinner and it was a big hit. As someone else suggested, I melted some chocolate frosting for a glaze and topped that with mini chocolate chips. It looked beautiful on a white plate. Try this cake, you won't be disappointed!!!!!

Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
That must be some cooking school! This is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe, hands down. I have made so many over the years and they are always flat and/or cakelike. These were perfect. My husband said they're better than Mrs. Field's. I replaced the almonds with hazelnuts and used 1 cup milk choc chips and 1 cup semi-sweet (no white chocolate) just for personal preference.

Garlic-Chive Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
These are the best garlic mashed potatoes I've ever made! Just the right amount of garlic and very easy. I did use regular sour cream as it was for special family members, but I would guess that the reduced or fat free sour cream would be just about the same. These are a real keeper!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
These are very, very good. Like some others, I used a 9 x 13 inch pan and extended the baking time. I just kept checking them every 10 minutes or so until the toothpick came out clean. I also added one chopped banana to the finished batter for a little more texture. The frosting is to die for and it makes a lot! (I used the frosting that Tricia Jaeger suggesteds in her review). A great recipe! Everyone loved these cake like bars!

Roasted Chicken with Risotto and Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2006
This is so delicious. I didn't need the full amount of broth, just kept adding until the risotto tasted done. Definitely use a rotiserrie chicken from the store. It adds to the rich flavor and the chicken is so tender.

Try using less chicken. The filling will not seem as dry. I also added 1/2 cup of cream cheese to the sour cream before mixing.

Penne a la Vodka II

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2006
This is amazing if you mix it together with the penne and let it all cook together at the end for an extra 10 minutes. The sauce thickens and the flavor really comes out. I also used half the amount of cream and about 3/4 lb of pasta.

Gourmet Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2006
I had high hopes for this pizza but it was just average and a bit bland. I even added the salsa to the ranch dressing as a previous reviewer suggested and seasoned the chicken while cooking it. I prepared 1/2 of the pizza with regular sauce for my kids and it was actually much better. Sorry.

Creamy Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2006
I loved this but I made so many changes that I had to give it 4 stars. I only used the zucchini and sweet potato (omitted broccoli which didn't sound good and russet potatoes which I was out of). I doubled the cumin and shedded one of the sweet potatoes. I also used organic begetable broth instead of chicken. I used celery salt and a pinch of tumeric and coriander. I only added 1/2 cup milk and some fillini soup pasta. It was a hit and was very much like many of the soups we had in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
