Rasta Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Oh man, this was soooo good!! What an awesome, orginal pasta idea! I followed the recipe verbatim except homemade sauce as opposed to jarred. Perfect spiciness! I beg you to resist throwing in mozz. or parm. cheese as some reviewers have suggested- not all pasta dishes need cheese! Try once as is! Thanks for a keeper =)

Golden Sweet Cornbread

This was awesome! Ridiculously quick and easy to prepare, I baked it in a bread pan (it took 35 minutes). My only regret was not doubling the recipe bc it flew off the table...being the polite hostess I only got a tiny piece :p Oh well, I'll just have to make it again (soon!!)..

I'm not a pecan pie fan and had no idea how it was supposed to taste, but one of my sisters loooves pecan pie and begged for me to make this for Thanksgiving- I say it was an easy, quick recipe, she said DELICIOUS- so four thumbs up ;)

Classic Stuffed Turkey

I used this recipe just for the stuffing part, and it was fantastic! Very flavorful. I used ciabatta bread, savory in place of sage, and added mostly chicken broth instead of water to get it to the desired moistness. This really was delicious and a huge hit with the family!

Spinach Enchiladas Verde

YES these were muy delicioso!! Sure I tweaked the recipe based on what I had in (whisked a dollop of sour cream w/ red salsa to make a pretty pinkish sauce), BUT the concept came from this recipe, so 5 stars! Tasted great, and even the non-spinach eaters devoured!! Thanks! :D

Whoaaa I loved this!! (Everyone else did too...) I followed the recipe verbatim and was pleased with the end result- the only negative was the 40 minute baking time, because it smelled so amazing in the oven that I wanted to pull it out early and dig in ;)

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
The crust definitely needs about two to three times more butter to make it crusty. I was so afraid to overmix my batter because of all the warnings against it, that I must not have mixed it enough and it didn't set in the middle. I cooked it for an hour at 350 and let it sit in the closed oven for 5 hours, then chilled it, and it still was gooey in the middle. AND it cracked! I'm going to try it again to see if I can make it better.***EDIT***I chilled it for a full 24 hours and it was like a different cake. Besides the crust needing more butter, this was PERFECT! I also took about 3/4 cup of the batter out and added melted chocolate to swirl through. It looked wonderful (except the cracks) and tasted amazing!

Very good- I liked it a lot! The kids in my daughters' classroom, not so much. I had to make a healthy treat, per the teachers request, but this was not the kids favorite. I didn't care - there was more left for me! Yummy!

Very easy to make and very much a comfort food! I was skeptical of the ingredients at first with gravy and cheddar together but it turned out great! My husband like it immediately and asked what was in it. He even requested it be made again which next time I will play around with the seasoning like use Montreal Steak Seasoning for a different kick.

Cajun Pasta Fresca

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Mmm this is amazing! I one-and-a-halfed this (not quite doubled it if that makes any sense), so I chopped 3 tomatoes to go along with one 28oz can of diced tomatoes. I added more minced garlic than the revised proportions called for, and replaced the salt with freshly ground pepper. My only qualm was too much mozzarella cheese, due to personal preference, so next time I'll decrease. But wow- amazing dish, a keeper! Thanks :D

Grandma's Corn Chowder

I'm not a chowder person but was drawn to this recipe for some reason and gave it a shot on a chillier-than-usual NYC fall day- glad I did! I omitted the bacon (not a meat-eater), used one cup whole corn kernels/two cups creamed corn, and replaced 1 tsp of salt with a pinch of sugar...mmmm really tasty chowder! Thanks for the recipe it's a keeper =)
