New York City

Nothing exemplifies the American "melting pot" like New York City. Arriving from far-flung places, immigrants enriched New York with their culinary traditions. Jewish specialties like pastrami and all manner of Italian and Chinese dishes tantalized New Yorkers before gradually being absorbed into the culinary culture of the entire country. If people in the world are eating it, odds are you can find it in New York City. Russians, Puerto Ricans, Middle Easterners, Greeks--the list of those who have added to the flavor of New York City spans the globe, making New York's boroughs a treasure of world cuisines. Go ahead, bite the Big Apple; you won’t be sorry.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed on Jul. 25, 2008 by ISLANDGIRL05
Followed other's advice, used only one stick of butter, added fresh parsley and about 3 big cloves of garlic, along with thawed frozen shrimp. Needed noodles in a rush so I used Ramen noodles. My son isn't a big shrimp fan, but loved the noodles with the sauce. Easy to make. Will do again, thanks!

Homemade Pancake Syrup

Reviewed on Jul. 25, 2008 by ISLANDGIRL05
This was very easy to make. I used Alond extract and vanilla. Gave it a four cause it has a nutty flavor (used the nut extract). Next time I'll just use straight vanilla. My 5 yr old gobbled it up along with blueberry pancakes. YUM.

Quick Brownbag Burritos

Reviewed on Jul. 25, 2008 by DaJoy
I've been making these basic burritos for a long time (except w/rice too), and they are always good! Also good w/cheddar, and sometimes I add 1/2 can of corn OR 1/2 can or white beans.
