Mac and Cheese Henwood Style

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
Contrary to the other reviewer's statements, this recipe calls for 8 oz or 1/2 a package of pasta, which I found to be just the right amount to support the amazing, cheesy, rich sauce. I omitted the onion to suit personal taste, but followed the recipe for everything else. This is grown up Mac and cheese! Thanks for sharing, Tiger.

Chicken Gruyere with Sauteed Mushrooms

Mushrooms and cheese - what more could a chicken want? This was rich, satisfying and oh, so subtly flavored. Thanks for a great recipe.

Surpringly sweet. I liked it. Not something I'd want each time I have shrimp, but a nice change of pace.

Salmon with Pineapple Tomato Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
I grilled the salmon. That was the major difference. I loved the cold salsa with the warm fish. Very refreshing. I'd serve this to company. That's always my way of deciding whether it was worth making again or trying something else.

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
I don't have a bread machine, so I used my stand mixer. I proofed my yeast in 1/4 cup of water and 1 tbs brown sugar, then added the butter and 1/2 cup very strong coffee and the honey. I used 1 cup of whole wheat flour and 1 cup of AP and 2 tsp vital wheat gluten with the salt and cocoa powder. The dough was very soft so I kneaded in about 3/4 cup more flour to achieve a well kneaded dough. I allowed it to rise until doubled, about 45 minutes, formed my loaf and allowed to rise again about 45 minutes and baked at 375 for about 30 minutes in a well greased, glass loaf pan. I will make it again sometime when it isn't so humid to see how much of a difference that made. All in all it tastes good, toasts well and I had no complaints from my tasters. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Mama Yev's Bread dip

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
This was very good. I made as written but omitted the almonds because I served it inside the Caraway Rye from this site and I just thought the almonds would be one too many textures. We all enjoyed it and I will make this again, although probably not until the weather is cold. This almost made me think of the fondue we had in Switzerland. Thanks for sharing.

Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Since I found the chicken broth didn't add any flavor, I would skip it in the future and just add 1 or 2 tbsp of water, if needed. I would also replace the butter with EVOO since that also didn't add much to the flavor. Then I'd toss the cauliflower in the pan until all is covered. The idea was good, though, to perk up steamed veggies.

Moroccan Lamb with Shiraz Honey Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Husband liked this very much. Didn't have shiraz so used Merlot. Didn't have the spice at my supermarket so I used this recipe from myrecipes.com: 2 teaspoons ground ginger 2 teaspoons ground coriander 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper 1 1/2 teaspoons ground turmeric 1 1/4 teaspoons ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon ground allspice 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves Makes about 3.5 TBSP. Left out coriander because DH doesn't like it. This was one to impress dinner guests. Will make again.

Italian Turkey Cutlets

This was easy to throw together on a weeknight. Turkey cutlets only come pre-packaged in my supermarket so this one is hard to make with only my husband eating. Would make again if I had more than one person eating.

Marinated Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Followed recipe exactly except used whole strips of bacon and left scallops whole. Got THICK slices of preservative-free bacon fresh at the deli counter. Husband and in-laws loved it! (served it as part of main course, but really should be an appetizer) Even asked for me to get more bacon since it was so much better than the stuff in the package. You can control the thickness if they slice it for you. WILL be making this again.
