Cheese Straws

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
I am rating the idea of this recipe. I was going on a wine tour and needed a more grown up taste. I used 1/2 C butter, 3 oz. cream cheese,2 1/2 cups extra sharp cheedar, 1/2 c crubmled blue cheese, 1/2 tsp garlic powder,1-2 tsp hot sauce, 1/2 tsp salt. I rolled them into about 3/4 in balls and flattened with a floured juice glass. Sprinkeled with smoked paprika and baked for 8 minute. It's kind of like a grown up goldfish. They went well with the dried fruit and almonds I packed for the limo.

Hot Pepper Jelly

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This recipe is the bomb! I have to say that I changed it a bit though. I absolutely despise Green Bell Peppers. So I use all red peppers. I love the fact that I don't have to cut up any hot peppers. I can also easily adjust the heat of each batch. I make 2 to 3 batches a year as this is an expected gift for most family and friends. I also have a local caterer who buys several jars and uses them on crackers with cream cheese piped around the outside. Very festive. We also use a milder version as dip for chicken fingers and pork. Thank you for submitting this recipe. I was sick of wearing gloves and cutting hot peppers up!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
I don't get this recipe. I made it precisely as directed and it went over like a dead weight. I made the mistake and didn't do a trial run. I took it to a family outing and brought back almost the whole bowl. This is the first bad rating I have given anything. I just couldn't let it go. So sorry

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
Made this today and served it over mashed potatoes. Yummy. Did the can of cream of chicken and can of celery. Added some spices and a bouilloin cube to the water. Also used just-add-water biscuit mix for the biscuits. Delicious but seemed lacking...

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2008
Wonderful rolls from this recipe. As others have said, the dough was sticky to handle so I added enough flour from a shaker to my hands, countertop, and ball of dough to make it manageable. I got 16 rolls using a 9" x 9" buttered baking dish.

Great dish!! It took me a little time to find out what garam masala was (curry paste)but in the end it was worth the effort.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
The first time I made these yummies, the batter was dry and the finished product had dry spots in it. Not one to give up another way to use the blessed zucchini in my garden, I tried something different. Instead of putting the tsp of salt in the flour, I shredded the zucchini and sprinkled the salt on top while I put together the rest of the ingredients. THIS did the trick. That being said, my partner in chocolate crimes(my 16 yr old daughter), and I tweaked it a bit more. Instead of 2 tsp of vanilla, we used 1 tsp and added 1tsp of coconut extract. We replaced the 1/2c of nuts with 1/2c of coconut and 1/2c chocolate chips. We skip the frosting as we are not big fans of the gooey stuff.

Double Chocolate Mocha Trifle

Reviewed: May 20, 2007
Scrumptious, sinful, dreamy, beautiful, showtopper. Just a few adjectives that came to mind when I served this dish. The looks on my female co-workers faces when the took their first bite rivaled ecstasy. My only complaint is that it didn't fill my trifle bowl like I thought it would. I will just have to double the recipe next time. What a shame, that might mean left overs. ;-) Thanks for sharing such yumminess

The results were great! I had a dinner for 6 last evening and this pie was a winner. Just a comment, that I think the times need adjusting for preparation (5 min?),cook time (10 min?), and ready in (15?). Thanks for this great apple pie recipe!
