Cabbage Beef Soup

Excellent recipe. Used cannelli beans instead of kidney beans as that's what I had on hand plus added some garlic as that's what I do, but followed the recipe exactly otherwise. Very hearty and very tasty!!!!!

Tomato Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
I adjusted this recipe in the following manner to cook it in my slow cooker. I used 2 cups cooked cubed chicken, 1 enveloped Lipton onion soup mix, 1 cup apple juice versus the beer called for, 2 teaspoons curry powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin. I also parboiled some small red potatoes(just enough to fill the bottom of a six quart Dutch oven, in one layer with 2 Tablespoons salt.) I cubed the potatoes and placed them on the bottom of the slow-cooker. I then put the cubed chicken on top of that. I then made the sauce and poured that over all. I cooked this on the lowest setting for five hours. The length of time allowed the flavors in the sauce to permate the chicken and the potatoes. It was just the right amount of spiciness for me.

I use my moms Honey Glaze recipe on this one.. But other than that, its the same.. But I use Brown Sugar, and powdered sugar mixed in.. The powdered sugar helps it STICK to the ham along with honey.. It is REALLY good..

Blackberry Pie I

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
This pie is great! I was glad to see a recipe for a berry pie that didn't use cinnamon, etc. Pies should reflect the flavor of the berry and not added spices. You could use Ritz crackers and get the same flavor when spices overpower the fruit.-----I just hope that everyone has their own berry patch considering that a 3 oz. pkg. costs almost $4.

Perfect! Just make a little more sauce and pair this with cous cous - drizzle balsamic sauce over it - YUM! My little picky eater friend asks me to make this a couple of times a year for her!

Clams Kokkinisto

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
Similar to Manhatten Clam Chowder but thicker. I made this for my little brother and his "Muddin' Redneck Buddies." I paired this with a Tuscan dipping sauce and a good crusty french bread that ripped apart. They all looked at me like I'd plopped them into a 5-star restaurant! They were cautious on the first bite - but before long I realized that not an ounce was left over! I really didn't divert from the recipe except by adding some additional italian herbs and hot sauce! PS. Now they are always asking my little brother when I'm cooking for them again!

Cheesy Catfish

As long as you leave it in the oven a little longer until it's a little crusty it will come out great! A side of angel hair with a parmesan sauce is excellent to pair with this. No one has ever NOT liked this!

Manhattan Clam Chowder

I made this recipe to feed a few friends when I was married. Several months after we were divorced, my ex-husb called me to ask me to make this, freeze it, pack it in dry ice and ship it overnight to him! I've tweaked to my taste over the last few years by adding more onions, using diced new potatoes, canned clams and extra hot sauce! It's one of my signature dishes now!

Grilled Rock Lobster Tails

Phenomonal! We've decided that grilled seafood is the way to go now! We have a great local fresh seafood shop we use often! The "marinade" works great on shrimp and scallops too! Just make them into kabobs and brush on! We no longer see a need to go to the "national lobster chain restaurant"!

Biscuit Baking Mix

Did I miss something? This might be a great mix, can't tell. When you do want to use this mix, how much liquid do you add,is it drop or cut, what temperature oven, and what ratio mix to liquid is used. I could probably figure it out but it would be nice to know what the correct amounts are.

Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
Very good! I lost my Lemon Bar recipe when my kids started raiding my recipes. This sounded similar so I tried it. The consistency was good and the flavor was too. The only problem I had (if you consider it a problem) was they wanted to kinda fall apart when I went to take them out of the pan. All I did was eat the first row, and put the pan in the refrigerator for a short time and they came out fine. I'd definitely make them again & not just for my Christmas tray. Would be great at Easter time too.
