Hamburger Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
I'm glad I read the reviews before I made this. I decided to use cornbread instead of regular white bread and laid them out on a regular baking pan. I also used tomato soup instead of mushroom - and reduced the amount by just a tad. In addition to the onions, salt and pepper, I added about 1/2 tsp. of garlic powder. I was able to mold the beef into tiny meatloafs and place them on top of the cornbread, reducing the messiness. I added extra sharp cheddar at the last minute, just enough to melt it on top. The result was a wonderfully easy to make meal just bursting with flavor. The contrast of the meat and cornbread was wonderful - and although they weren't exactly "muffins" all credit goes to this great recipe!

Corn Dog Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
These are very simple to make and absolutely delicious! As a college student I'm always on the lookout for quick and inexpensive meals to make in my apartment. These were devoured almost as soon as they came out of the oven! I also halved the recipe but kept the full amount of cheese and sliced the hot dogs. All of my guy friends (who usually don't cook) have made them since, without burning down the place! Great treat for broke students - yum!

Perfect Sushi Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
Wow, I was surprised at all the high marks for this recipe. Maybe I did something wrong, but I felt like that rice was so saturated with vinegar that I couldn't even taste the other ingredients in my roll. But like I said, I might've done something wrong. The rice was also too soggy. Next time I make sushi rice I am going to half the vinegar and take the water down a cup.

Steak Sauce

Easy to make and pretty good, too! I added a bit of cumin and lessened the ketchup because I prefer it less sweet. Thanks!

Luck 'O The Irish Brownie

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
Absolutely delicious! My family loves mint and chocolate together so I made these for St. Patrick's Day. I used a brownie mix for the brownie base instead of the recipe to make things a bit quicker, and they turned out wonderfully!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
Like some other members, I use minced garlic since it's a bit easier. If you are a garlic nut, like I am, the garlic "juice" give s nice kick, too. I recommend combining the ingredients in a blender/food processor before pouring in a baking dish. This is a new Thanksgiving tradition with my family as a dip for the football games!

Grandma's Five Cup Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2007
This very like my mom's "summer salad." Without fail, this dish is always gone at the end of a picnic. I omit the coconut per my mom's tradition, but other than that, this is a summer classic!

Frosted Maple Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
I love this recipe! They bake up very flat, but that's not a problem. I used a little bit more maple extract in the cookie. They're ok right away, but they get 5 stars from me for waiting until the next day to eat them.

New England Dinner

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
The directions are misleading, as 1 cup of water was not nearly enough. When I checked the dish's progress half way through, much of the cabbage was a bit burnt, and the potatoes not done at all. I added water and waited a half hour, and the potatoes were barely tender. Next time, I'll try this in a crock pot.

Better Than Sex Cake II

This cake is a hit with everyone who has eaten it. It is VERY rich, but that makes it easy to serve a lot of people. And, the name always draws a laugh. Great recipe, thanks!
