Tiny Pecan Tarts

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
Followed directions, I couldn't make balls from the pastry because it was too wet/sticky. It spilled over into the oven floor, and then I couldn't take them out of the pan..Totally disappointed

Sourdough Starter

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
I made this yesterday, followed the instructions completely, and it was a soupy mess by the next day. The liquid had separated from the flour and it had a horrible odor. I think the instructions could do a better job explaining how to feed it, and how to store it, and what its supposed to look like each day and as time goes on. I just made a new batch today, and the mixture is ALREADY bubbly. These instructions say 4-8 days.

Chocolate Banana Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
The first time I made this cake was for a Cake and Ice Cream Church Social. It got rave reviews. It's now the only Chocolate Cake I ever make. I didn't have frosting in the house so I melted Semi-Sweet Chocolate and drizzled it over the cake, then melted White Chocolate and drizzled that over the cake also. It was out of this world.... I now get the many requests for this cake.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
W---ow! What an amazing chocolate cake. I felt like I had bought this from the finest bakery! It is so rich and creamy, I have ZERO complaints. The only changes I made to the recipe was that I used hot coffee instead of boiling water. I reccommend using the finest cocoa powder you can find (I used Ghiradelli). Do not be alarmed when you see that the final batter is almost the consistency of water. I was flipping out because I thought I did something wrong, but it rose beautifully...better than any cake I have ever made.

Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
This cake is VERY lemony. If you're into that, you will like this cake. I personally prefer sweet desserts and this was more tart than sweet, especially the filling. If I ever make this again, I will only use 1/4 cup of lemon juice and a 1/4 cup water for the filling rather than all lemon juice. The frosting was delicious however. Even that I found could've used a bit more sugar and less lemon. The cake was good, nothing special though. This is a good cake to make for those who dont have a big sweet tooth. I made it because I was tired of the same ultra sweet desserts and cakes, but I find that is what I like best.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
You must proof yeast and let your dough rise if you expect a decent pizza crust. This dough is okay if you are in a hurry, but you will be dissapointed in the quality and texture of the final product.

Loved this. I used grey pupons honey dijon musturd and light brown sugar. I was skeptical of the mustard but it tasted great not to tangy. Definately a keeper.

Cajun Wild Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
Good rice dish. If it had a little more kick to it I would be five stars. I didn't add the sausage, only because I made chicken breast stuff with sausage. But next time I'll add the sausage and maybe some cayenne pepper.

Creolized Stuffed Chicken Breasts

This is a great addition to my chicken recipes. It's so easy to make. Hubby loved it. I didn't add as much cajun spice as the recipe called for because my daughterdoesn't like spicy food but next time I will definately add more spice.

Black Bean Salsa

I left out the fresh tomatoes because it seemed like a little too much with the canned-I think next time I'll only use fresh. Also added jalapenos, 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar and cumin for a little extra flavoring.

I Love, Love, Love this cake. It's simple and delicious. Just make sure when it says beat well, you really beat it for a long, long time. The Cooked Frosting is one I lost many years ago, and was trying to find it again. I'm so happy to have found it here. Thanks for the great recipes.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
I made these a few months ago. How good does that look! Anyway, I loved them. And I will let you all in on a secret...the first batch I made was like the recipe said, Pretzels. Then I had some dough left over and I didn't feel like using it for pretzels. So I deep fried the dough balls and made little doughnuts or fair style zeppoles and added powdered sugar. Excellent if u want to use the dough for two differnt things.

Boiled Bagels

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
I made these a few months ago. It was my first time making homemade bagels and it was surprisingly very easy. They tasted good, however they were a little tough. Also they didn't last very long. Only a few hours later they were hard as a rock, but microwaving them helped soften it up again. I will make them again eventually.

i followed recipe exactly, only added extra garlic (we're a garlic family) and used small curd cottage cheese (that was all i could find).when mixing the ingrediants i didn't have time to to get the food processer out so i used my handy little mix master, also i made the mixture ahead of time and let it sit a few hours. this was by far the best stuffed shells i've ever had.will definately make again.

Aunt Janet's Pumpkin Dump Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
I love this recipe. I do tweak it a bit. I add half of the Cake mix into the pumpkin mixture to make a firmer pumpkin base when cooked. Since I used half of the cake mix in the batter I cut back on the Butter to 1/3 cup. Everyone loves it so much that, every time I serve it I have printed out recipes to hand out.

Easy Potato Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
I've made this soup a few times now and I love it! I always change something in just about every recipe... this one is good with some paprika... I also added garlic and bacon...substitute the water for broth...sometimes chicken, sometimes beef and sometimes vegatable... this soup is awesome whatever you add to the basic recipe.
