Apple Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
I added chopped apples instead of shredding them and it really made the flavor pop out.

Pretzel Dessert

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
This recipe is FANTASTIC!! I have been making this very recipe for 10 years, only I make mine with Raspberries instead of Strawberries. I think it adds a nice tartness to the dish. I am definently going to try the strawberries next time, and I recommend that you try it with the raspberries! YUM!

Hearty Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This was good. The bay came through too strong for me, so I'll reduce it to one bay leaf next time. I added just a tish of liquid smoke, but I think I'll be skipping that too. I used some homemade chicken stock, and next time I'll use less stock/more water. I'm also thinking of only adding 2/3 of the split peas at first, and then adding the rest of them about 1.5 hours before serving for more texture.

Southern Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
Thank you for teaching me the proper way to cook chicken! I'm quite the cooker now, but about a year ago when I first tried this I was scared out of my mind. I didn't enjoy cooking, but needed to learn and this recipe made me realize that cooking isn't as hard as I thought it was. My daughters favorite meal is chicken legs and potatoes, and now I'm able to make it for her all the time.

the best stock ever! I just used what was in the bottom of the fridge...I have used it for soups, injected a turkey with it...great color too!

The Humble Shepherd

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
I made this for dinner the other night to rave reviews. I made the following changes: -used one jar of prepared turkey gravy and omitted the water and gravy mix -used instant mashed potatoes (6 servings)prepared according to the box instructions -doubled the onion called for. -used mixed vegetable (corn, carrots, lima beans, peas) -added a spoonful of worschestshire -added rosemary and garlic -topped with one cup mild cheddar and broiled it until the chees was bubbly. We fought over the leftovers.

Apple Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
I decided to use this recipe since I had some grouse to use up. This does end up being sweet tasting, but pleasantly so. I omitted the caraway and substituted onion powder for fresh onion. I used flour to thicken the gravy and ended up adding some salt to suit our tastes. It was a good dish and I may make it again.1

Michelle's Coconut Chicken Curry

Easy recipe but pretty bland. Needs a lot extra to give it flavor. We sat at the table squeezing lime juice and dashing cayenne pepper on it to get it to taste kinda right...

Pork, Broccoli and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
My husband raved for several minutes - he rarely does this! I have leftover pork often, so I'm sure this recipe will become a staple. Cleanup was easy too, as even a double batch was eaten up by my large family (5 kids and two parents at home for this meal).

Hidden Secret Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
I didn't follow the recipe exactly because my family doesn't like spicy foods. I added chopped baccon to the cheese for the center and then I seasoned it the way I would if I were making a regular hamburger. But I did cook it the same way and they turned out great...my 2yr old actually ate the hamburger just to see what was inside!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
YUMMY! Used low fat mayo, low fat cream cheese, freshly grated parm, 1 small can each of green chile's and jalepeno's including the juices for more flavor, a dash of onion powder and garlic powder. Sprinkled panko bread crumbs on top. It was not greasy at all. Served with tortilla scoops. Tasted very rich despite the low fat version! Will be making this one again!
