Meatloaf with Fried Onions and Ranch Seasoning

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
My husband said this was better than my meatloaf & that's saying a lot! He always hated meatloaf until mine & now requests it all the time! SO for him to say this one's better - WOW! I thought it was really good too & I think our household has a new meatloaf recipe! I did only have a 2.8 oz can of the Durkee fried onions & think that was plenty! This one's a keeper, thanks for posting!

Corn Fritters

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
good but bland. Even when I added some garlic salt they were bland. I wanted something else to give them something extra. Maybe some cheese in the mix next time? My husband said they were better once you put butter on them but I didn't want the extra fat! Will play with the recipe & make again I think though...

Lemon Curd Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
Good but seemed like there wasn't enough lemon curd so maybe I got the smaller jar. Next time will use to or find a larger one becuase it was mostly crust and a little bit of lemon. But super easy and yummy.

Drop Dead Delicious Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
This was GREAT! I cute the recipe in half & it looked a little soupy when I opened the bowl this morning, but it's great! I think you could add another can of tuna or a bit less lemon juice from being as thin. Had a great taste though! Thanks for posting this recipe - it's a keeper!

It was really good. Made the house smell wonderful. I made it with shrimp instead of chicken and it was wonderful!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
My husband thought it was way too salty. Loved the size of the stew meat though as he says my pieces are always way too big. I usually use round steak in my Mom's recipe that I have always made. I liked this, but not nearly as well as my Mom's and her's is fast. Will stick with my Mom's. Always gotta try new recipes though, you never know when you may find a new favorite! This was just not it this time. It did cook up too much on the sides & I had to turn off finally & that was beore 5 hours on high. The meat was really tender though & I loved that! I would eat again, but not my hubby.

Sunshine Toast

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I had never had anything like this before & really didn't care for it that much. The bread was more like french toast and I would prefer to just have regular toast with my fried egg. Not bad, but not a keeper for me. Just personal preference.

Mom's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I misread the recipe & did 2 cans of pumpkin rather than 2 cups of pumpkin puree. I was worried it wouldn't come out & I think it tasted great! Cooked for quite a bit over the time it said. that's when I realized what I had done! Anyways, great pumpkin pie flavor! This recipe is a keeper!

Jimmy Dean Sausage Breakfast Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I came across this recipe a few years ago though another source, but since I saw it on here - I wanted to review it. WE LOVE THIS! I use my 2 8" pie pans to make this - and I use an 8 oz tube of crescent rolls and split them between the pans then I top with one small onion diced, one small green pepper diced, and frozen cubed potatoes (thawed). Then I add the meat (sausage or ham) and use 1 cup of sharp cheddar cheese on each and then 3-4 large eggs poured on top sprinkled with Parm. It takes longer to bake (30-40 mins) depending on if the potatoes were all the way thawed or not. But it bakes up more like a quiche and it's delicious! The toppings can be changed to suit your tastes - we have added mushrooms in the past too. This is a very versitile recipe that has always given us fantastic results for breakfast or dinner!

Specials

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
My family enjoyed these okay, but I had higher expectations. I didn't discern much of the cheese flavor. Further, the burgers came out concentrated, more like a meatloaf than grilled hamburgers. Grilled hamburgers are always good, but I hoped for more from this recipe.

Grilled Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
I expected hotter wings. Considering the volume of hot sauce called for, I'm surprised the wings were so mild. My other gripes are that, 1) the sauce seems too thin and as such, doesn't adhere to the wings, and 2) it's a hassle and time consuming to keep moving the wings from the grill to the pot and back again. On a positive note, the flavor is pretty good. After all, grilled chicken is pretty good, but if I use this recipe again, I will modify a few things.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
OMG, this pie is amazing! My advice is to make it exactly as the recipe states first before you add any spice. It is caramely and a nice change from the traditional apple pie. Maybe add cinnamon to the crust if you have to have it. Mine came out a bit runny b/c I used Jonathon instead of Granny Smith, but next time I will add a little corn starch and I'm sure that will solve the problem. I am definitely making this for the holidays. YUM YUM YUM!!!!
