Classic Gingerbread Cutouts

Probably a 3-star for flavor, but a 4-star + if you're looking for something to hold up to making a house. Also not bad with your morning coffee. :-)

These are soooo yummy! I don't like cake, but I loved these. And they are surprisingly easy, my 2 (almost 3) year old helped. I would say they are up there with donuts!!!

Busy Day Chicken

Super easy way to make a whole chicken. Meat absoutely fell off the bone. There wasn't as much flavor to the meat as I expected but I would try it again this way. Its great to have a meal ready to go at dinner time!

I do something similar except I leave squash whole, cut off the cap at the pointed end, seed it, add honey, brown sugar, cinnamon and butter. Put cap back on, place in baking pan with a little water and bake.

Pretzel Turtles

I was skeptical at first. How could something this simple be so good? They are amazing. I made them the first time according to the recipie and they were very good. The second time, roasted the pecans in a few tablespoons of butter at 325 for 15 minutes and sprinled with koser salt. The little bit of extra work really brought the flavors all together. Awesome. Also drizzeled white chocolate over the top.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

These are very good, but I think I will try them with butter next time. I can literally taste the olive oil. I did dip half of each cookie in white chocolate and drizzled with dark chocolate - which elevates the taste from good to very good and the presentation is fantastic.

Baklava

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I was told to cut this part way through before baking it, and I think that actually helped. It came out very hard and I don't think I could have cut it after baking. But, then again, it could have been hard because I cut it early. Even though it was hard, it tasted incredible and I couldn't stop eating it. I think if I ever make baklava again, I would either not cut it early or use another recipe, but I may never make it again because it took me forever to layer everything. I gave this recipe 3 stars because it was delicious but hard and took a long time to make.

Kimberly's Meaty Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
My hubby recently used this recipe the first time he ever made meatloaf. It was better than ANY I (or my mom) ever made! Gosh, was was so good! He took 1/2 of the tomato sauce & mixed that into the recipe. (I am not a fan of the tomato stuff on top, but this didn't have a gob and it was good!) He used 1 lb lean beef and 1 lb ground pork. Plus he used more 'chester sauce- 2 T. We are keeping this one and will be sharing the recipe!

Emma, thank you for the recipe! Made these last night, and they turned out great. I was worried when the dough kept falling apart; but alas after chilling it was very easy to mold into the perfect sized balls. Thanks to all the reviews, we sugared them a second time after cooled off. I expect these will be well received at our cookie exchange later today.

Angel's Yummy Bruschetta

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
I brushed olive oil on the bread before putting it in the oven for the first time. That created a nice base for the topping. In my opinion, this is not quite as good as Ali's Amazing Bruschetta, which has become my default bruschetta recipe for several years, but it is suprisingly good, definitely five stars.
