Pumpkin Fluff Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Wowza! This stuff is awesome! It tastes like I am eating pumpkin pie. I used fat free cool whip and fat free vanilla instant pudding mix. It turned out fantastic! I served it with apples b/c one person had a wheat allergy in the party, but next time i'm serving it will cinnamon gramm crackers. This dish is a keeper!!!

Old-Fashioned Soft Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
I enjoyed this recipe. This cookie is definately "cake-y"! For my own personal taste, I increased both the cinnamon and nutmeg by 1/2 tsp, and skipped the glaze.

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
I REALLY hate to do this but I cannot possibly give this a better rating. I read all of the other reviews VERY carefully and used broth instead of cubes and WAY less water. If you would have used the water it called for I can't even imagine how watery it would be? I also had to add a lot more seasoning and however the taste was good in the end, it came out very thin and their were no peas left but only a few clumps of green mush. I won't even go into how I tried to remedy it but it didn't work either. I really don't know what to say except one would have to use just a few cups of broth only, more seasoning, and alot less cooking time for it to come out okay? I was anxious to try this and had been planning it for weeks and I am very sorry I had to rate so poorly.

Dill Pickle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I am giving this a five due to the creativity, the uniqueness of it, the overall easy preperation, and the wonderful flavor combination that made it have its own exotic taste. I did change of a few things yes but with the exception of the 4 tsps. of onion salt, I think the recipe would be very tasty as written. I boiled some peeled diced potatoes in chicken stock as I browned about a half of pound of ground beef and then later added both to the soup ( I like a more hearty soup). I used more pickles and juice and even left some of my pickles in bigger hunks because I really wanted to taste the pickles. VERY good and very unique and even though this is not a soup I would want on a weekly basis, I will be making it over and over throughout the years. Oh, also thought I'd mention that for me 2 tablespoons of butter was not enough to whisk a 1/2 cup of flour but that might have just been me. Pretty simple fix to just keep adding butter until you get your flour smooth but thought I'd mention it in case anyone had any troubles there. Thank you for the most unusual soup this soup loving gal has ever tried!

Turkey Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I'm giving it a 4 because as written I think it would be dull. I used the Unlce Ben's original wild rice as another review suggested and used the 23 herb seasoning packet that came with it instead of the salt and chicken poultry seasoning. I also used carrots, celery, and mushrooms but only because I prefer some subtance in the cream. This was an excellent meal and VERY filling. I will make this often!

Sausage and Apple Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Everyone really really loved this, and I thought it was pretty dang tasty, even me, who dislikes sausage. I made this pretty close to as written, however I did include more celery and onion - closer to 3/4 C celery and 1/2 C onion (diced VERY finely), I omitted the water chestnuts (forgot them at the store!! oops...) and used Granny Smith apples. It was requested that I bring this again next year... Thanks for a great recipe.

This was my first attempt at roasting a turkey. I made this as written, except used turkey broth in place of the water and bouillon. Also added a can of beer. It turned out excellent!!! Thank you!

Pumpkin Pie Squares

I absolutely loved loved loved this recipe. I made the crust nearly as written, just decreased sugar to 1/4 C, and believe me, you could not tell. I made the same adjustment with the filling, decreasing the sugar to 1/2 C, and did not miss anything. I will be making this often. Thank you for a great recipe.

Slow Cooker Venison Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I changed this up a little only due to the sodium but it still turned out very good and tender. I did not use the can of cream of mushroom soup. I had to cook mine much longer than stated but it was SO tender and tasty! I have a freezer full of venison to use up and this is one will be used again. This was one of the tastiest venison recipes I've tried from this sight.

The Devil's Own Deviled Eggs

These turned out really good and were a nice change from the ordinary ones. I de-seeded the jalapeno out of fear they'd be too hot but I should have left them in as the recipe called for. Thank you for this different variety and I will definitely makes these again!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
Yum! These were really good and REALLY easy! We served them with mashed potatos and steamed spinach. I would give this 5 stars but I was not loving the gravy. It was missing something- we did add 2 cups chopped mushrooms and a whole sauteed onion, however it was still pretty sweet. I think next time I will omit the white wine and add some broth. We will definitely eat them again.

Sweet 'n' Sour Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
The smell of the vinegar was WAY too overwhelming for me. I was sick from putting the marinade together and sick again the next day when I opened it to grill the chops. Kids didn't seem to mind it but I could not eat any of it. I ended up with a PB&J with milk.

Mexican Style Shredded Pork

GREAT pork recipe for tacos. I stuck to the recipe except I added some extra chipolete peppers and adobe sauce but only because I used wild game and it is a bit harder to season. I will definitely make again once hubby gets us another hog. Recipe is a keeper! Thank you!

Iowa Pork Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
This is a great go-to recipe for a busy night. Following the suggestion of another user, I made it in my crockpot - so good! The whole family loved it. Toss it all in the crockpot on high around noon and you'll have a perfect dinner ready by 5. I quartered 5 potatoes and put them on top so when the meat was ready I could pull them out and mash them. Delish!!
