Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
I have never made a pie crust with butter instead of shortening....and I will never use shortening again. This is the winner for us. It was so flaky and buttery. Delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, but had to double because of what I was making. Definate keeper. Thanks for the post.

Chicken Oreganato

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This was very good. I used a cut up chicken (since that was what I had on hand). It did take just a bit longer to bake than the recipe called for. I did use the "sauce" idea from another reviewer and it turned out well. Hubby liked it and so did I. Thanks for the post.

Parmesan Asparagus

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
I have never baked asparagus before...but I liked this. I did follow the reviews and bake this for a shorter time than the recipe stated (about 8 minutes) and added fresh minced garlic instead. Delicioius. Thanks for the post.

Garlic Angel Hair Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
This is the most fabulous thing EVER. I have no idea why I didn't think to add the garlic to the pasta while cooking. Delicious and not over powering like garlic can be sometimes (and I LOVE my garlic). Will definately do this for every pasta recipe that needs garlic from now on. Thanks.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
This was very good. I did do this a little differently for fear of the shrimp getting too rubbery from being over cooked. Cooked the shrimp first then added the green onions and garlic to cook....then the sauce. Let it bubble away for about 10 minutes and added the shrimp back for a minute or so just to reheat. Also added fresh ginger instead of ground and just a little brown sugar to the sauce. Delicious, thanks for the post.

Cheesy Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
I decided to try this instead of my loaded baked potato recipe. I didn't like the mayo flavor with this and the sugar made it just a little too sweet for our tastes. Although it was really good we still like our regular recipe just a little bit better. Thanks for the post.

This is delicious. Made this reduced (dramatically) for a quick afternoon snack. Perfect and tastes exactly as the name implies. Thanks for the post.

Dilly Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
You can not go wrong with this recipe. Be careful with the garlic and don't cook it on high heat. Like cream cheese and chicken with a little lemon and dill could taste bad. Delicious and easy to do. The only difference was that I had soft deli sandwich bread instead of french bread...still delicious. Thanks for the post.

Drop Biscuits and Gravy

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
I make the gravy for this all the time. I have my own biscuit recipe that is just great. The only thing I do differently is that I used about 1-2 tablespoons of bacon grease along with some dried sage. It works great. Thanks for the base recipe to help me out.

Rich Pasta for the Poor Kitchen

This is used so consistently in our house. There are those days when I get home after teaching and just don't want to put forth much energy into dinner. This is the old stand-by with some grilled chicken or mayble some griled shrimp. Definate keeper. Thanks.

Teddy Bear Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
My son was doing "bears" at school (he's 3) and I sent the recipe with his teacher because she said she and the kids were going to make bear paws and I thought they would like this a little better. They had a blast and my kid knew what to do so he was especially excited to be the helper. It was so much fun we are going to make it again tomorrow when my 3 year old neice comes over for breakfast. Thanks for the post...so much fun.

Savory Crescent Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
Although I think this is a great idea...it didn't really work for us. We just thought it was ok. Had hubby's friend for dinner and he eats anything (usually goes for seconds or thirds because he is single and doesn't get home cookin all too often) and he only ate 1. He said it was ok. It looked great, but not for us. Thanks anyway for the post.

Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

You seriously cannot go wrong with this recipe. I like to keep the skins on....it looks great and tastes good too. I like to sometimes add roasted garlic to this instead of the raw...which is really good too. Thanks for the post.

Layered Enchilada Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
This was really good. I did a few things differently though. I did not add the salsa to the meat...instead I used it like another layer in the casserole. I did add garlic to the onions while cookin before adding the meat. Another thing I added was a can of corn....we like corn in almost anything that has a "mexican" flair. I also didn't add the sour cream until it was finished baking as a topper. Only had a little bit left over and hubby ate that the next day. Will definately use again. Thanks for the post.

Beau Monde™ Dip

Delicious. Had friends over for the New Year and made this. Kids ate this with the potato chips, but the adults dipped rye bread into it. Definately going to be making this in the future instead of spending tons of $$ at the store for their dill dip. Thanks for the post.

Braised Flank Steak with Lemon and Garlic

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
I really liked how this turned out, but hubby was not as pleased. He looked at me and asked why I made flank steak the way I make my roast....so he wasn't so thrilled about the idea. If I hadn't told him that it was flank steak, he probably wouldn't have known it. I thought it was great. Thanks for the post.
