Quick Asian Beef Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
YUM!!!! I didn't have any bok choy but I did add a small can of mushrooms to this and even my picky 8 yr old ate it up! This was very easy, economical and it was nice to be able to whip something up with pretty much most things I have on hand. Will definately try it with the bok choy the next time but this is a keeper for sure! I used 1 pkg of chicken ramen and 1 pkg of spicy chicken ramen and it was so yummy!!! :) Thanks for sharing!!!

I finally found an alfedo sauce that we really liked. This turned out rich and creamy, and was extremely easy to make. Thanks for sharing this recipe, we will be making this often!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Made these for a cookie exchange, and they were very good. I upped the sugar by half a cup, did 1/2 c Margarine (out of butter) and 1/2 c shortening (to prevent spreading); and added 1 tsp butter flavoring. I rolled them out to about 1/4" and they ended up being crunchy, which was ok with me. Thanks!

Chinese Chicken Casserole Surprise

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I always hate to not give good reviews, but unfortunately we did not care for this recipe at all. I made it according to the recipe, and we thought it was soggy and way too salty. We ate it the first night, but since there is only three of us there were leftovers which we ended up tossing.

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
these are super easy and really good. Someone mentioned they taste a bit like raw dough - I assume they undercooked them a little. Or maybe ate them fresh from the oven. I made them for a cookie exchange and they were a hit!

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This was DIVINE. I took a couple suggestions on this. I subbed the 8 oz. of whipped cream for the handmade stuff, whisking heavy cream, 2 Tbsp sugar and a tad of mexican vanilla together. This gave the chocolate pudding wonderful flavor. I also left out about 1/4 cup of the water and used irish cream liquer in its place and sprinkled heath bits over the brownies when I layered everything up. EXCELLENT substitutions if you want more depth to your already decadent dish and very pretty!!

Beefy Cheesy Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
Easy, yummy and a hit with both hubby and my picky 8 yr old. My 7 year turned her nose up but she does on most ground beef dishes! More for us though, right? LOL! I only had 4 slices of American cheese but it was still yummy! I added a little more soy sauce because I used more noodles and 1 lb of ground beef but the flavors meshed together well and this will make awesome leftovers this week! Thanks so much!

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I made two of these pies, one for each of our Thanksgiving dinners, and both my husband's and my family loved it! I love that it combines two ingredients (sugar & milk) so it's a little quicker to prepare. This really is a perfect, traditional pumpkin pie.

High altitude note: reduce yeast by 1/4 tsp. This recipe tastes delicious! Now that I finally figured out why my loaves have been coming out badly, I'll be using this recipe for many years to come. I didn't change a thing and I loved the flavor. Thanks for the recipe!!

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Oh' My !!! .... This will forever be a traditional drink for the holidays in our family. I was under the impression that this was made on the stove. When I discovered that this was a slow cooker drink, I panicked with only 2 hours away from company arriving. I decided to start out the batch on the stove and brought to a boil, then simmered for approx. 15 minutes. I then placed the batch in the slow cooker and placed on high for 2.5 hours. This was PERFECT !! ... I also agree, if anyone has butter floating on the top..... IT'S NOT READY ... Keep simmering until the butter is not floating on top. KEEP THAT LID ON, and let it cook !! ... Thank You Linda Correia for this outstanding recipe !!

Bacon Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
This was a big hit at our brunch. We doubled the amount of bacon, but we'll use a smaller baking dish next time. It was spread REALLY thinly in a 9 X 13 pan (I know the recipe calls for 11 x 7 but we didn't have that)

Double Layer Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
This was a nice, quick recipe to take to Thanksgiving dinner. I found it made a LOT of filling, I threw away probably a third of the cream cheese and the pumpkin mixture each, which makes me think I could have filled 2 pie shells rather than just one (just made smaller pies).

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
FIRST-TIME BRINERS: AFTER BRINING, YOU MUST THOROUGHLY RINSE THE TURKEY IN RUNNING WATER (about 2 mins) and then PAT IT DRY thoroughly before baking. Also, DON'T BRINE A TURKEY THAT IS MARKED "PRE-BASTED". I suspect one or the other of these is the issue for those complaining about their bird being "too salty" even after cutting back on the salt. Do not cut back on the salt! The rinse and/or the unbasted bird will solve your problem. This recipe is terrific, but the author unfortunately assumed users would know these things. Do try it again!! I add 1/2 can of orange juice concentrate but everything else is the same. If you are using frozen turkey, it should be thawed before brining. A FRESH turkey will always turn out better.

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
Kathy Rose, I tried your recipe tonight, and was so impressed with it; I had to create an account to comment on this outstanding recipe. I did add sea salt, ground pepper, minced garlic and used packaged shredded parmesan cheese. My husband and I both agreed ... We will NEVER use jarred sauce again.

Libby's® Pumpkin Roll with Cream Cheese Filling

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
This was excellent, my first time making a jelly roll type confection and it came out beautifully! I would recommend cutting down on the powdered sugar a little in the filling...it seemed "off" or a little too sweet or something. I added just a couple more spices to the pumpkin roll to bring out more flavor, including fresh grated nutmeg. yum!

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
Very good! Mine turned out "puffy" , too. Next time I won't let so much air whip into the filling. I made it for a pecan pie loving friend and he LOVED the crunchy surface (almost like a thin merangue layer.) It wasn't goopy and syrupy like my traditional recipe. I will definitely make this again!

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
Since I was short on time, I did not make the pie crust, I used store bought. As per other reviewers, I softened up the carrots and potatoes some so they would not come out too crunchy, and they ended up with just enough tooth to them. I did not have mushrooms, so I added corn to make up for it, and I used red potatoes instead of russets. I also added garlic powder and poultry seasoning, and I really enjoyed the additional flavor it gave! Overall, a good recipe I can use for a base! Very creamy, very hearty, very stick-to-your-ribs!
