This is the classic recipe everyone knows and loves. I'm surprised I even needed to look it up.

BREAKSTONE'S Noodle Kugel

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I made this for for the second night of Hanukkah. My father-in-law, who is old fashioned loved it. I did jazz it up a bit. I added 2 personal containers of applesauce, 3 teaspoons of cinnamon, and a das or 2 of nutmeg. To compensate of the added liquid I cutback on the cottage cheese. To make it irressitable I stirred in a couple of handfuls of rasins. This made it more palitable to the nontaditional crowd and gave the older generation a new look at an old favorite.

West African Peanut Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This is absolutely delicious! I subbed in quinoa for the rice because I wanted to use some I had on hand. Otherwise, I was faithful to the recipe. My husband, who is the second pickiest eater in the world, loved it. In fact, he said it is extremely similar to the sauce used in the "peanut butter chicken" from his favorite Chinese restaurant in Omaha, so after years of searching, I have stumbled across a good recipe for it!

Pumpkin Smoothie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I was short on milk so I used carrot juice to make up the difference. I also added about a half teaspoon of vanilla. I used honey instead of the brown sugar. Otherwise, I followed the recipe as written. The smoothies seemed more like milkshakes than smoothies, but they were delicious and I will definitely be making these again.

I thought it needed more spices, like most people have said. Otherwise, this is very good and inexpensive. I made some rice and black beans to go with it. Very economical!

I live in an alcohol-free household, so I made these using vegetable broth in place of the wine, and served them over pasta with a little dusting of fresh-grated Parmesan cheese. Absolutely marvelous, and I will make these again and again!

Cheater Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
If I could, I would give this recipe 4 1/2. I liked the consistency, but would like if it was thicker. The flavor o the base was great, not fake tasting. Also, it has great color. I am not going to grade it based on its flavor seeing as i didnt add the maple. It was great with just more vanilla iin place. One thing I also did was added 1/2-3/4 Teas. of salt to help balance the sweetness. But what counts is that my whole family loved this! And it was super duper easy to make when i ran out of storebought.

BLAH! This was not good in anyways whatsoever. I thought it sounded fantastic. Healthy food doesnt have to be nasty food. None of the flavors worked together AT ALL. NO harmony whatsoever. My family wouldnt finish their portions.

Super Fajita Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
AWESOME! Followed a couple others & added that dash of cinnamon & Tbl of balsamic vinegar and only used 2 limes. (I've made another marinade & it was too limey for us before). I also marinated about 24 hours & used sirloin cut into strips. This was a great marinade! I made my onions as I had with another recipe from this site, Texas Chicken Quesadillas, and put my bell peppers in another pan with some oil and a very small amount of packaged taco seasoning & then threw the peppers on the grill where the beef was cooking. These fajitas rocked and I will be making them again for sure! Thanks for this great marinade!

Feta and Slow-Roasted Tomato Salad with French Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
I really enjoyed this. I've never loved arugula, but bought it on a whim at the farmer's market. I really liked it in this salad. I didn't have french green beans, so used regular. I tried to follow the recipe as close as possible, though, since no one else had reviewed it. I'd never roasted tomatoes - yum! This recipe was outside of the box for me, and I loved it!

I made this on a whim, because I had fresh rosemary and this is what I decided to make with it. I was very happy with them. They smelled AMAZING while cooking. If I can figure out how to get all the flavor to infuse through the pork chop - they are 5 stars!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
I almost gave it 4 stars, just because I'm not sure how the amount of milk would ever be enough. I added an extra teaspoon. That being said....this sets up great, and made for pretty cookies. I love the hint of almond extract. I will definitely be using this recipe again....just with extra milk!
