Baked Cheddar Bacon Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
From a household of cheese lovers, we LOVED this recipe! I lowered the amount of shredded cheese to 2 cups and then put the last cup on the top of the mix. I microwaved it, (7 minutes) and I have a nu-wave oven so I put the dip in the nuwave for 5 minutes. Can't wait to have an excuse to make this again!

Seasoned Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
It's a great recipe, but these HAVE TO BE BAKED! My mother put them on a low heat in the oven, around 200 or so. Put them in a big, oven-safe bowl (or a cookie sheet if it's all you have). Every 15 minutes stir them around, do this for 1 hour. And there you go! The flavor just melts into the crackers, so much yummier!!! **if you don't have dill, substitute with some lemon juice

These are fabulous! The only thing I have changed is to use olive oil instead of veggie oil. Try them, you won't be disappointed.

Ground Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
Just not that good. The 3 star is that it is a good, starter recipe. Not 5 star because there is such a lack of flavor! Again, as a starter recipe this is good. If you want a flavor to your meal then you need to season, season, season! Also, you need to find a thickening agent (flour, cornstarch, etc...) because this has a difficult time thickening on it's own. I will make it again with a major overhaul.

Texas Sheet Cake V

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
Just what a sheet cake should be like. I was out of all-purpose flour, so I used self-rising flour. If it rises too much you can slice off the middle, risen part. There is no taste difference when you use the sour cream in this recipe. Still just as yummy though!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
These were perfect. An earlier reviewer mentioned they were a cross between a cake and brownies and that description is very accurate, which is what I liked. I didn't overmix or overcook (exactly 25 minutes) and spread the frosting on top while still warm. Fabulous. However, I did have to add a 2-3 tsps of milk to the frosting to improve the consistency.

Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
I thought the taste of the sauce was excellent. I wasn't paying close attention to the ingredients and used chili sauce, instead of chile sauce. Since I wanted a sweet/spicy flavor, I added several teaspoons of cayenne pepper sauce to it. Like others, I simmered the ribs in water, liquid smoke and onions for about an hour, marinated the ribs in the sauce for 3-5 hours and then baked them covered for about 1 1/2 hours. Since the sauce was very thin, I poured off the sauce, thickened it with cornstarch in a saucepan and then put it back over the ribs for another 20 minutes or so. Next time I make them, I'm gonna do the same thing, but add even a bit more cayenne pepper sauce. I love this recipe.

Meal in Foil

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
When I do these at home, I do the chunk potatoes, carrots, lots of onion, and bell pepper strips over the hamburger, which I have added crushed garlic too. Bake or grill for 45-60 minutes. I drain the grease off and add Velvetta cheese on top and reseal the packets. This makes it a cheesy packet. We always called them "hobo pockets".

Italian Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
This was very good. The blend of creamy caesar and italian was what makes this dish. My changes (for personal preference only) were to omit the peppers. I added two tomates diced, a quarter red onion diced, sliced black olives and fresh pepper. Delicious!

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
This was the best homeade chicken noodle soup I've ever had. I made this in a rice cooker, and it lasted all day on the "warm" setting and just got better and better! Be mindful not to leave the noodles in all day, they get mushy. I'd like to try this with homeade egg noodles someday.

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
**UPDATE** This is still awesome, however be sure to always follow the recipe because if you stray, it's not the same. Original: Talk about AWESOME! This is so simple but the most amazing dressing! Seriously, I'd rather have a salad at home then at the fancy italian restaurants with this recipe. I was simply amazed at how good this was. THANK YOU!!!

Texas Sheet Cake II

Worked out perfect! Just be sure to use the proper flour, I used a self-rising flour and it wasn't as flat as sheet cake needs to be. So be careful to choose the flour correctly.

Kimberly's Meaty Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
This was my first attempt at making a meatloaf and this is a great starter recipe. I did a few different things, and it was wonderful. I put an 8 ounce can of tomato sauce INTO the meatloaf mix, then poured one on top at the end (this was all by mistake, but it really turned out awesome). I also shredded the onion and a few cloves of garlic into the mix as well. Instead of the egg I used an egg substitute and it all worked out fine. Again, this is a wonderful starter recipe, you can really do a lot off this meatloaf base.

This is a great recipe. Do not allow it to boil though after it has baked as it will curdle the cheese and look terrible.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
I thought these cookies tasted great, but I didn't like the look of them at all. I took the advice of others and after putting them on the cookie sheet, I stuck them back in the fridge. They still spread out way too much. I wonder if adding a 1/2 tsp of baking soda or powder might help? Like I said, they tasted fabulous, but just not pretty after baking and spreading so flat.

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

This was awesome stuff! It was a bit on the salty side but other than that, it was amazing! I added a few more macaroni noodles and a small can of tomato juice for some extra juice. The longer you let it simmer, the better it tastes.. can't wait to eat it for leftovers tonight!
