Best Barbequed Burgers

Reviewed: May 29, 2006
We made these when we grilled out on Memorial Day. Thought they were pretty good! They didn't have the "oomph" of flavor that I thought they would, but my husband and I both liked them just the same. Even our picky 3-yr-old asked for more! Next time I will try it with the seasoned bread crumbs and see if that makes a difference. We had no problems with them breaking apart on the grill.

I thought they lacked flavor, but my husband and the couple we had over thought they were really good. Maybe it's just me...

Special Occasion Stuffed Crown Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2006
We had this for Christmas dinner. It turned out ok! None of us had ever had crown roast before, so didn't know quite what to expect. We did cover it while cooking (my mom refuses not to). The stuffing was different, but in a good way! I'd never had a sweeter stuffing before, and it was a nice change. Thanks for the recipe!

Chili Cheese Dog Pot Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2006
The taste was good. I would maybe make it in a bigger dish, so the ingredients get spread out a little more. As is, there almost seemed like there was "too much" of everything! Maybe even cut down on the hot dogs, too. It might help if the ingredients were layered a couple of times, but with the same amounts. BTW, I discovered that two 15 oz. cans of chili (without beans - my husbands hates 'em!) will equal the 3 cups of chili, in case you don't have any left over!

Apple Cider Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
I decided to make these when a friend had given me some apple cider. They weren't bad - I think I will decrease the amounts of nutmeg and cinnamon next time, tho. It was a rather strong spicy taste, but some probably like it that way! Also, it didn't take anywhere near as long to cook on each side as the recipe states. Use your own judgement! =) I also did not use the walnuts (not a nut fan) or the butter flavor cooking spray, since I used a nonstick pan.

Parmesan Puffs

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2005
Not bad! Easy to make, too. My husband could only eat two before he got tired of the Parmesan flavor. I tried dipping them in leftover spaghetti sauce, and could only taste the sauce. I probably wouldn't make them on a regular basis, but they'd be fine for every once in a while! Maybe next time I'll add some garlic powder. =)

Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

This was VERY easy to make! I really liked it and will make it again! I only gave it 4 stars because the topping was too sweet for my husband, but he liked the rest of it fine.

These turned out really well! They taste very similar - if not exactly like - the ones at Red Lobster. I worked at one for over 3 years, so I've had my share! =)

Gooey Marshmallow Chocolate Chip Cinnamon Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
Hmmm...well, these were interesting to say the least! I had some trouble getting them off of the cookie sheet (due to the baked on marshmallow). I think I baked the entire 20 minutes...maybe I took them out a little sooner. They tended to fall apart as I was removing them to a rack to cool. The end result was a decent tasting cookie. They hold together much better once they've cooled.

Cinnabun Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
The bottom line is: these cookies are very tasty! I did have some trouble with rolling them up, but managed. They weren't the prettiest cookies I've ever made, but delicious all the same. I would agree to double the cinnamon/brown sugar mixture. I had the better luck with removal when I used a baking stone. I will absolutely make them again! So what if they don't look perfect? =)

Oven Stew with Burgundy Wine

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2005
Overall, this was really good! I would agree that you would need to AT LEAST double the amounts of water and burgundy. I covered it tightly, and didn't use too big of a casserole, but it still got dried out (fortunately, it was still good!). I also added a couple of cut up potatoes. Next time I will also decrease the meat to maybe 1 or 1 1/2 pounds, and add more veggies.

Maple Bacon Pancake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
I made this for breakfast on Christmas morning for myself, my husband, and our twin sons. My husband thought it was great! It reminded me of those McGriddles from McDonalds. I don't like those much, but this did taste better. Next time I might leave out the maple syrup, and sprinkle the bacon on before I cook it. It would be good with part of the bacon added to the batter, too!

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

We loved these carrots. Made them with parsnips and carrots and the parsnips really added a new flavor. If your in a hurry you can steam the carrots and parsnips than follow the recipe.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2003
I made this for dinner tonight. This was my first real attempt at making pizza crust from scratch and it turned out very well (give myself a pat on the back!). I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the crust itself was bland...but then again, what are we expecting? It's pizza crust for pete's sake! Next time I'm going to try adding italian seasoning and maybe parmesan cheese to the dough when kneading. I bet that would be good! Thanks for the recipe, Jason!

Christmas Wreaths

Reviewed: May 2, 2003
I first made these in the 3rd grade with my classmates - our teacher taught us how to make them. I've made them for many Christmases since! You can also make one big wreath, or mix in the cinnimon candies, and drop spoonfuls on the waxed paper to make "holly bushes". Also, you can also keep the mixture warm in a slow cooker while you're shaping the wreaths.

Cinnamon Toast

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2003
Up until a minute ago, I had taken it for granted that EVERYONE knew what cinnamon toast was - and had always eaten it just as I have. I guess I was wrong! =) All three of us kids grew up eating cinnamon toast, mainly as a bedtime snack (with chocolate milk), but also for breakfast. I was fascinated by the reveiwer who said they never even heard of it until a year ago! I'm glad you now have the chance to enjoy it! It's so easy! We always just have a shaker of cinnamon sugar made up ahead of time. Very quick, easy, and delicious!
