Lemon Chicken II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This is a full five start elegant lemon chicken recipe. Very easy to make! I loved spooning some of the lemon sauce over my rice too. I may even just make the lemon sauce in the future to use for rice. My batter didn't stick to the chicken really well and a lot of it fried and came off in the oil, but that was okay. When the chicken was close to brown, I cut the chicken with my spatula in the pain. I scooped all of the chicken out of the pain and let rest on a paper towel while I got rid of the oil and extra crusted batter. I put the chicken back in the pan and poured the lemon sauce over and let it heat for about 10 minutes before serving. My picky husband really liked this, it is a keeper.

Self-Rising Flour

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
I am so glad someone suggested this recipe to me on the exchange. It worked perfectly and I am grateful! All ingredients are typical ones you would have on hand where self-rising flour is something that isn't.

S'mores Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
Great! My first time trying a s'mores candy apple. I opted to dip the whole caramel apple in milk chocolate and then put the grahm crackers and marshmallows on. I prefer the more rich, milk chocolate taste because it is my favorite part of a s'more! I used a honey crisp apple. I would make them again and highly recommend them.

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
I finally found the BEST peanut butter cookie recipe. My picky husband who loves peanut butter cookies loves them and even I like them and I am not a big peanut butter cookie fan. I made the recipe exactly as written, however, I reduced the temp. to 325 and I baked for nearly 30 minutes. I should also add that I use my 1/4 c. measurung scoop to scoop out a ball of dough to make a larger cookie which comes out to 4 x 4 inches when baked, which is why I bake my cookies for a longer time. Everyone loves the larger cookies and I get many compliments on them! I only bake 3 or 4 at a time and freeze the remaining dough balls for another day when we want fresh cookies.

Carrot Cake Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
This is delicious. I didn't have a jelly roll pan so I used the biggest cake pan I had.. a little bigger than 9x13.. so I had to adjust cooking time to 40 to 45 minutes. It was more cake-like, moist and everybody loved it. I also used the whipped cream cheese frosting and sprinkled finely chopped pecans over. Thank you.

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
I followed the advice of other reviewers and made this using 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar instead of a full cup of white sugar. I also sprinkled some extra cinnamon in the crumb topping mixture and then again on the top before baking. Great apple crisp!

Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
What a great recipe! My family enjoyed this tonight with our vanilla ice cream. I can't wait to try it with a brownie or warm chocolate chip cookie and ice cream next time. This recipe makes a decent amount. I like the gift idea. The World Martket sells great glass jars which I will buy and pour this fudge into for gifts. I am so glad I tried it. UPDATE: I wanted a richer chocolate taste and texture, so I reheated the fudge sauce the following day and I added a good 1/2 cup of additional cocoa powder and now I think this is a perfect fudge sauce that we enjoy and that I would love to share with others. Check out my blog to compare the before and after photos of this fudge sauce.

Stuffed Green Peppers

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
This was an excellent recipe, mu husband loved it. I only left out the celery because my husband doesn't like it and I opted to bake it in the oven instead of in a sauce pan. I still boiled the peppers in water for 5 minutes, then I stuffed, and baked at 350 for 45 minutes. We will be making this recipe again.

Linda's Monster Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Pretty good cookie. I baked at a lower temperature, so the cookie would spread out and bake the way I prefer it. I also used a 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop out the dough and I rolled in into balls and dropped on the sheet for a larger cookie.

Last Minute Mushrooms

Great basic recipe for fresh mushrooms. The recipe doesn't specify the type of season salt, so I used a garlic and basil season salt that I had. It was terrific.

Cookie Balls

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
These are great and surprisingly I prefer the white chocolate to a milk chocolate covered one. I actually already has some white chocolate mixed and melted with peanut butter and I used that to dip the cookie balls into it and I highly recommend trying melting peanut butter with the white chocolate.......the inside of these are flavorful and delicious. I didn't expect to love them as much as I do. I think they are best served cold.

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
This is a great buttercream recipe. I always use the same one, but I decided to try a few others. This one is different because you use unsalted butter which results in a lighter, slightly less sweet flavor. I liked whipping this icing for an extra few minutes as well as the butter in the beginning, it is a keeper!

Bow Tie Tuna Florentine

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
This is a keeper for our family. I don't eat meat and I can easily leave the tuna out of this or take my share before adding the tuna last. The only change I made was to replace the milk with 1/4 cup of olive oil and a 1/2 cup of water for a healthier alternative, which is on the back of the pesto mix packet. This was delicious and I will be making it again soon, I highly recommend it!

Okra and Tomatoes II

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
Excellent! I take exception to the few lower marks given to this recipe by people who used FROZEN okra. I used one anehiem (sp?) chili pepper and 4 large tomatoes from the garden because it was what I had on hand. I also used an extra slice of bacon because, well, its bacon. I will be making this again!

Chocolate Cookie Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
This is the first baked cheesecake I have ever attempted. I finally bought a springform pan and it baked perfectly for my first time. No issues with it sticking to the pan,the sides of the pan came right off. I made the recipe exactly as written and I highly recommend this to anyone, it was wonderful. Even the cinnamon in the crust was great so don't skip it! Don't change a thing!

Chocolate Orange Truffles

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I didn't know what to expect, but I am very impressed. Anytime you work with chocolate, it can be messy, but I don't mind! I actually had a brand new bottle of orange extract and I decided to use that in place of liqueur and it worked perfectly. I dipped mine into tempered milk chocolate so I could take these to a dinner party. I love using tempered milk chocolate!

Felix K.'s 'Don't even try to say these aren't the best you've ever eaten, because they are' Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
This recipe should have a full five star rating, it is absolutely perfect and different than any other chocolate chip cookie recipe which sets this one apart. I made regular sized cookies using my cookie scoop, but my favorite is making larger cookies using my 1/4 measuring cup. This is the one, hand down. Try this!

Absolutely Sinful Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
This is "the chocolate chip cookie" recipe for me! I have tried most of the top rated ones, but this one is the winner. I followed the recipe, with exception of the unsweetened chocolate because I didn't have any on hand. This is more cakey and soft which is the type of cookie I love. I sprayed the cookie sheet each time with cooking spray and I baked on a dark non-stick pan. For some reason, a lighter metal pan would not bake the cookie properly. My husband is extremely picky and he loved them.
