About me:
As a full-time Realtor (with RE/Max)and mom of 4 boys, I don't find as much time to cook as I'd like. I have been cooking since before I can remember. My mom was always patient enough to let me make a mess and she is the greatest inspiring influence I have had as a cook. From her, I learned everything from preparation techniques to what seasonings go well together, and from how to set a table to proper etiquette. A lot of these things are overlooked these days, and although our family rarely sits down at a perfectly set table for a meal, I am proud to set my Christmas table and get rave reviews from my guests on how pretty the table looks when I do take the extra time. I feel that learning to cook is a life-long process, and I am always learning something new. I would like to get to know some other cooks with whom I can keep in touch and learn from, as well as share my 'creme de la creme' recipes that I have created over the years. I can be contacted at HomesByKaren@hotmail.com

About me: I'm a high school student, who learned a lot about cooking and baking from my mom. She's definitely a really good cook, and she's still experimenting with her own recipes.

Garlic Red Potatoes

This is a really good recipe! The second time I made it, I accidentally added a little too much lemon juice (from a bottle, since I had no lemon fruit). It was very lemony, but still tangy and tasty. So it's pretty forgiving, but I advise that you go a little lighter on the lemon juice end of things!

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle

Reviewed on Dec. 15, 2009 by callisto3@gmail.com
Awesome and easy recipe! Like everyone else said, be prepared to move fast at the end! I used both raw Spanish peanuts and salted roasted peanuts and had no problem with the peanuts burning. I put the nuts in at the beginning and all turned out fine. This recipe is great and easy for even the beginner. Get that candy thermometer though! Total time from start to finish is about 15 mins. Right after I poured the brittle, I set the pan in some hot water which made cleanup easy.

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed on Dec. 14, 2009 by October_Fest
Oh definitely will make this again! It's a great recipe but I would double all the ingredients because the serving was too little. However, it was way too sweet, even after I reduced the sugar to 2 cups of brown sugar and 2 cups of confectioners sugar. I think I would reduce it to 1 and a 1/2 cups of white sugar for future reference. And for all those people who didn't succeed the first time, make sure while you're dissolving the sugar into milk and butter that you heat slowly on low and increase the heat every 2 minutes until you get to medium heat. Don't start timing until it's a hard boil and make sure you don't over boil or under boil.
