Easy Sausage Strata

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
This recipe was really easy to make and tasted great! I made a few changes only due to not having the exact ingredients on hand. We never have real eggs on hand (we always use Egg Starts from Costco) so I used the egg start equivalant for the 6 eggs it called for. We also use multi-grain bread all the time so I used that rather than just plain white bread. I think that the bread added a lot to the recipe since it had sunflower seeds in it, it added some extra texture to an overall mushy dish. I don't mean mushy in a bad way though, I think the texture was just how I envisioned it. I also added some turkey bacon to the recipe as I had it on hand and who doesn't like a little bacon added to a meal? I added some slices of pepperjack cheese for a little kick and when all was said and done it was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had! My boyfriend's dad was visiting us which was the main reason I made it. He's supposedly a very picky eater according to his son, his wife and him himself, but he ate it to the surprise of everyone. This one is definitely a keeper!

Baked Potato Salad II

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2007
Loved this recipe! My husband thought it was a bit "rich", but I felt it was an excellent dish for company! Four stars because I felt that adding the bacon and THEN baking caused the bacon to get overdone. Best to top with the bacon 15 minutes before done baking. Thanks for a nice recipe!

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
I made this for dinner tonight and it was AWESOME! This is the first time I've ever made a whole chicken before, and I'm surprised that it turned out so well. For the most part, I stuck to the original recipe with the exception of coating the chicken with olive oil and sprinkling it with Lawry's seasoned salt, Lawry's seasoned pepper and garlic powder. This recipe is going in the recipe box..Thank-you for such a great recipe!

This recipe is called CHEESE LOVERS. You would not "cut back" on the cheese for this recipe if you LOVE cheese! That is the point of the amount! Loved it and so did my family! Added a touch of cream to the canned soup. Yum! (Yes, I am a Wisconsinite!)

All I can say is YUM! This was awesome and easy to make. I adjusted the recipe a little bit to compensate for a few items I didn't have on hand. I used two tablespoons concentrated frozen lemonaid (thawed of course) instead of lemon juice, and macerated blueberries instead of strawberries. My husband and I both LOVED it and I definatley plan on making this again! Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!

Trinidad Stewed Chicken

This recipe is AMAZING! I was a little apprehensive since my husband isn't big on coconut and I'm not big on sweet meat dishes, but after reading the reviews, we wanted to give it a shot. I am so glad I did! I used the whole can of coconut milk and 1/4 cup water, but that's the only change I made, and it was mind-blowing! I am so enthusiastic about this dish, I can't shut up about how good it was! Thanks for posting this recipe!!!

These were a nice change of pace from regular oatmeal cookies, and a good alternative for those who do not like raisins. Next time I make these I may add some mini chocolate chips to get a nice nutty-toffee-chocolate flavor.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
I made this exactly as the recipe dictates, and my whole family loved it! Immediately after we finished the meal, my son told me I had to make it again soon! In my opinion, the recipe works as is, but if you want the bacon to crisp, you will have to par-cook it first, or it will remain soft when baked in the oven (especially because it is topped with sauce.)

Pork Roast with Thyme

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
OK, EVERYBODY, LISTEN UP! If your complaint is that the meat was TOO DRY, then you need to get out your meat thermometer and USE IT! The #1 reason that pork is "dry" is that you have overcooked it! Pork should be done to an internal temperative of 160 degrees. There should be a touch of pink to it. Sorry, some of you are from the old school of NO PINK IN PORK, but that is just simply not true. This was an absolutely DELICIOUS recipe. My teenage son came up from the rec room to inquire what that AMAZING SMELL was! We ALL loved it! I'll be making this again and again! Only substitution I made was using white wine vinegar as I did not have apple cider vinegar on hand.

Mini Cheesecakes III

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
these are delicious and very easy to make! i doubled the recipe and had enough cream cheese mix for 18 cupcakes but only enough crust mix for 12 so i had to make a little more of that. i used paper liners for the muffin pan and it makes it really easy to eat the cakes (since my crust was a little crumbly). i topped them with some cherry pie filling and they're scrumdiddilyumptious!

Plain Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
OK, I had to just laugh at some of the reviews I read..... All those complaints about heaviness and density! Helloooooo??? These are not your Krispy Kreme yeast-raised doughnuts! They are traditional CAKE doughnuts. They are MEANT to be a dense and heavy type of doughnut! I read up on the reviews, heeded some advice and began with a little extra flour in my dough. The time listed from start to end for this recipe was 25 minutes, and it was RIGHT ON! I whipped these up, rolled them out, cut and fried. My daughter rolled in sugar/cinnamon...and my family of five wolfed them down! No problems here! Nice recipe. Simple and easy dough product. Fun and delicious!

We had a heck of a time getting the cream cheese and lime juice to combine, but it ended up being well worth it. There's a little something missing, but I will continue to make this, as it was a big hit at my company get-together.
