Best Ever Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
OUR FAMILY FAVORTIE! If you know what you're looking for ahead of time, there is no way these muffins should get anything less than 5 stars. We make these every time we smoke brisket, these are so light and sweet, they pair up perfectly with a heavy dish like BBQ. If you are looking for a light sweet corn muffin, this one's a keeper. If you want a "southern style" muffin, look for a recipe that has buttermilk, and almost no sugar and a lot more corn meal, that's pairs up better with chili and tex-mex dishes!

Italian Sausage Soup II

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
We used orzo for the pasta, and 1 tsp. of ground celery seed instead of celery (picky 4 yr old) and this soup got rave reviews in our house! We also added a little salt and pepper. Definetly a keeper!

Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Well, this recipe didn't live up to my expectations after reading the reviews. To me it was just okay, I followed the recipe as written, and I thought it 1, needed more nuts, 2, wasn't banana-ish enough for my taste, just kinda boring, I gave it three stars because it is really simple and quick to make!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
I just made these tonight. My cookies also came out very thick and cake-like. They also lacked flavor and were rather bland. But I also think it's because I used vegetable oil spread instead of butter. I normally only use butter, but I was out of butter. I think with this recipe you must use butter for them to turn out great. I may try and make them again, but I will only use butter next time.

Stuffed Leg of Lamb with Balsamic-Fig-Basil Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
Even after missing a few ingredients (corriander and mint) I still made this dish. I substituted canned plums in syrup for the figs and this recipe was just wonderful. The fruit flavors went very well with the lamb - everyone loved it. I recommend only allowing the lamb to reach an internal temp of 150 (about medium well) but it's up to your personal preference. I will definitely make this again. My husband loved it - and never liked lamb prior to this. Thanks for the post. Laura Swink

Lobster Tails Steamed in Beer

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
These turned out fantastic! They will curl up as they steam, so for the sake of presentation, you might like to run a wooden skewer through the length of each tail. Other than that, it was lobster perfection in 8 minutes!

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Yummy salty sweetness combo that couldn't be left alone. We used strawberry preserves, but it had essentially the same effect.

Slow Cooker Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
After seven hours the chicken was dry and over cooked. It completely fell apart and was a shredded dinner. I thought the combination of ingredients would make for a good taste. I will try again with a shorter cook time to keep the moisture and the flavor.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
READ SARA B.'S review from March 7th, with her modifications to the recipe, it is really good, we also added sage (1 tsp), and 1 tsp crushed rosemary, I think it would be really bland without the changes!

BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
The perfect thing about this recipe, is that you can add (or not) anything to suit your taste, and it will still taste great. We've added dozens of different spices on different occasions, and we haven't been disappointed yet. I do double the recipe tho, as we like a lot of sauce.
