'So This Is What Heaven Tastes Like!' Cream Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
Never had something like these before. I gave my son a little sample while I was cutting them, and he said, no, just half that. So I gave him a 1" cube and 10 seconds later he was back in the kitchen for more! Everyone loved them, I put the nuts through my nut grinder, but next time would rough chop with a knife for bigger pieces. Put some mini chips in it too, bigger ones are better. Didn't think I would like the cherries in it, but they were good. Great recipe!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
Excellent! Just as good or better than I have ever made with canned mix. Not too sweet, not too tart. Not sure why you need to cook it for 30 minutes, I checked halfway through and it tasted the same as after 30 minutes. I made to the recipe with a pound, then made 5 more pounds up and added in tomato sauce to stretch it out without having too much ketchup in it, was great!!! Thanks!

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
I followed the recipe, but didn't end up with very much liquid for the soup part. It was starting to boil away while cooking the potatoes. Over all, was pretty tasty, I used mild italian sausage, just way too much fennel for me.

First time making one of these. Neighbor gave me some italian plums, tasted good, reminds me of bread pudding. Excellent for breakfast reheated just a bit in the microwave! Really easy to put together and cook. Looks very elegant when done. Thanks!

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
The 3 ingredients and no flour intrigued me. Mixed with handheld mixer, made these to the recipe, used small cookie scoop to put them on the cookie sheet. I also tried it with teaspoon. Both cooked exactly to the shape they were when I put them on the pan. I did flatten some and made the crisscross with a sugared fork, they didn't spread either. Mixed up very well, no crystals of sugar in the dough. And yes, they are really sweet, like you mixed sugar with PB. I would much rather have a regular flour type PB cookie, but it was fun to try something different.

Spinach Mozzarella Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
It was not very flavorful on it's own so I added ketchup when eating. It did work well when I chunked some up and added it to jarred spagetti sauce for my daughters. They ate it just fine.

Fire and Ice Tomatoes

It has a wonderful sweetness with the right amount of heat. A very nice way to use those tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden. I didn't have mustard seed so I used ground mustard (1/3) and it still tasted great.

Bratwurst Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
Two cans of chicken broth was not enough, more like 4 cans. Also, I had to bring it back up to a boil for the cabbage to cook. I used fresh basil, and went heavy on the other spices and added black pepper. Other than that, this was very good. Like a boiled dinner without the potatoes.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
These were so good! My whole family loved them. I use the yeast in a jar so I used 1 1/2 teaspoons. I will be making these to go with soup, pot roast, italian food and just to eat with bread and jam. Yum! The dough comes out sticky and I have to add flour and knead until it seems right and that's a pain. I'd like to know how much flour to add so it doesn't come out sticky.

Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
This is the first time I made pesto. There are two large lemon basil plants in my back garden. I created the paste like texture from my Kitchen Aid food processor. I did not use any Brazil nuts, only pine nuts. Like other reviewers, I did not add a full cup of olive oil. I experimented with the oil by starting with only a half cup and increasing it to almost 3/4 of a cup. Like anything else, it's easier to add than remove. I also added 1/2 tsp of black pepper from my pepper mill to add some zip to the pesto. Finally, you just need to add enough pesto to coat the pasta. Anything more will be too overpowering.

Good idea, wasnt' hard to prepare. I cheated and used jarred sauce, and the filling needed something, maybe basil, s&p. Next time will add more sauce and more filling. We like lots of sauce. Thanks for the idea and the recipe!

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
Didn't have any trouble with wet zucchini, just grated it and threw it all together. After I made it to the recipe, which is tasty, I did add some garlic powder and pepper. Easy recipe to change up or add to for spices and cheeses. Good stuff! Thanks.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

I love this recipe! I did use my own cream of soup mixes and bouillon for the au jus, cause I just didn't have any. It was great! Have made several times, once in the crockpot and several times stovetop. Only takes about 20 minutes to shortcut on stove. It is so good! Thanks for the recipe.
