Marshmallow Treats

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
The real secret to perfect krispie treats is to only use real butter with the krispies and marshmallows. And as others stated, cook on low heat, stir constantly. Also, use butter in your spreading pan and on the spatula that you mash them down with. NEVER use cooking spray as this will make them sticky and they will fall apart when cut and picked up. For a change, make them using fruity pebles, my family loves them.

BUSH'S® Best Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
I liked this bean salad recipe but the vinegar was a bit over powering. So I modified it a little. I used all the ingredients listed except I only added 3 tablespoons of the vinegar and added two tablespoons of white sugar. I also used a can of the Southwestern style corn as I like more beans and less corn. My cilentro was from a spice jar instead of fresh. The sugar added just a hint of sweetness that really brought out the flavors. it was even better the next day after it set in the fridge. Thanks for a good recipe.

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
Made this last night and I think its great. I did substitute applesauce for the oil but only had 2 ripe bananas. After it was already in I realized that I put in too much honey but you can't tell. I will definitely make more.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
Havin never eaten fondant it was hard for me to determine what kind of rating I should give this recipe. I rated it according to ease and instructions. I had no problem whatsoever making this. I have never made fondant before and wasn't sure I could pull it off! I did though, and tinted it using the wilton icing tints. It turned out great!! I can't wait for the cakes to cool so I can put the fondant on them!! Thanks for a great recipe I'm sure I will use quite often!! :) Even if it did burn up my mixer.... :(

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This bread is very good if you are looking for one that is more like cake. Make sure you bake it for 65 minutes as mine cake tested done at 60 minutes at 350 and it was doughy in the middle.

Tarragon-Almond Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This recipe is a good change from regular ho-hum beans. The vinegar taste is a bit much, next time I think I will cut the vinegar in half, or add a bit more sugar, or both.

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This cobbler is good. I used 15 peaches and 1/4 C. of both juices and 5 T.cornstarch. I think the nutmeg is over powering. Next time I will just use cinnamon. the crust is very good and can be used with other fruit pies/turnovers.

I followed the directions EXACTLY. They did not turn out like I hoped. It was like biting into a pre-chewed piece of cake. Complete waste of time and ingredients!

Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

These are great! I did add more peanut butter (personal preference ~ I love peanut butter!) and decreased the milk by the same amount. My picky 15 month old has eaten 4 of them since yesterday!

Biscuits for Two

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
I tried these today and have to say was a little dissappointed. They did not rise at all, but actually had a good taste. I added 1/4 tsp. sugar to this recipe which I think made the taste better. I think next time maybe I will use a little more baking powder and as another reviewer stated add about 1/8 tsp. baking soda. We'll see.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
After all the good reviews, I was expecting a phenomenal cookie...these were just ok. As others have said, they need to be cooked much longer. I did 365 degrees for 12 minutes and they were still a little underdone. Also, this is way WAY too many chocolate chips for my taste...I would cut it in as least half. This recipe has good potential, and I'll probably make them again, but with fewer chips and a longer baking time.

Cherry Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
I read all reviews b4 making this dish and decided that just the cherry pie filling was not enough to keep them from sticking to the crock pot badly so I added a can of crushed pineapple to it. I also added some of my favorite spices, (basil, garlic granules, marjoram and cayenne pepper. These actually came out very, very tender and juicy. I cooked them on low for 4-5 hours and 4 would have been just enough. I will be using this one frequently as it is quick, easy and tasty! Thanks for another great recipe!

Tender Pork Roast

I made this pork roast tonight and it was very juicy and tender! I did change it up just a bit, used brown sugar and honey instead of white sugar and honey mustard instead of ground mustard. It did turn out very tasty! Thanks and I will definetly be making this one again!

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
I followed the directions dilligently and these were not very good. I was baking for a bakesale and after several batches they were either too hard or too soft. The lemony taste was good but with it's inability to produce consistant results I'm afraid I wont be making it again....

Meatloaf With A Bite

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
I didn't have as much Salsa as needed for this recipe. So I improvised, using taco seasoning in the meat mixture and mixing the little bit of salsa I did have with a ketchup, mustard, brown sugar and taco seasoning concotion. MY family ate every last bite and with three kids and a finicky fiance that's saying something.

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge
