Classic Chicken and Rice Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Excellent recipe. Delicious, quick and easy. Most of the time is spent simmering the broth and soup. Perfect for a cold winter meal!

Emily's Famous Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2008
This pie came out great! I omitted the clove because I have a aversion to the flavor but it was still delicious. I might try the lattice top next time.

Pumpkin Pie Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
WOW, now that is a GREAT recipe. My family raved over it...and they are right it is better the next day. I used allspice instead of pumpkin spice and I then toast each piece and a nice layer of real butter. Goodness....that is MMMMMM!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
These cookies are absolutely delicious! I follow the recipe exactly as stated - and got exactly the results stated. This is by far the best recipe for cookies I have found on this site. If you haven't made these yet - make them - and add them to the top of your favorites list! On half of my cookies, I drizzled them with orange glaze to really bring out that ginger flavor. I just melted 1/2 cup of butter in a sauce pan, mixed in a cup of powdered sugar with 1/4 teaspoon grated orange rind and thinned it down with orange juice until it was the right consistency to drizzle (about 4 teaspoons of orange juice)

Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Very delicious recipe! The lemon added a nice touch, and all the flavors worked very well together. It took a moderate amount of time to prep, but any good meal does!

Chicken Paprikash

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
My husband is hungarian so he grew up on chicken paprikash. I made this recipe to surprise him and it was even better than his mom's! (shh don't tell her) Really this was the best I will definitely make this again, the only thing I'll do different is double the whole thing!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
This recipe is really delicious and really forgiving. I wanted to make something different and I had pumpkin in the pantry, so I tried it and I'm so glad I did! I added some chocolate chips which I didn't feel all that bad about since there is very little sugar. Wonderful! My 2 year old is gobbling them up as I type.

Maple Walnut Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
These weren't the best muffins, but certainly weren't the worst either. They seemed a bit bland. Next time I will add something like nutmeg, or allspice to give it a bit of zip. As previous reviews have stated, the maple flavor is barely noticeable (even when adding an extra 1/4 cup of real maple syrup) I will follow the suggestion of using the more strongly flavored artifical maple syrup next time.

Crunchy Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
I used the bagged coleslaw mix to save on time. I admit I burned the sesame seeds when roasting them-tried the oven first...much easier to do on the stove in a sm frying pan with a nonstick pan-same with the almonds I added too...The is definately a new family favorite. Thanks!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

I have to say, this is as 5-star delicious as everyone says! I prepared it exactly as the directions stated, even though many people did differently. It was perfect - exactly as is!

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
This is really good! I used one can cannellini beans and one can black eyed peas (because that's all I had). I also added a pinch of cinnamon to cut the acidity and bring out the sweetness a bit. Served it with whole wheat penne pasta, my boyfriend and 2 year old gobbled it up!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This is DELICIOUS. I swear, it is wayyyy better than storebought! I don't have a grill, so I did things a bit differently than some of the other reviewers. I did let the beans dry a bit after rinsing them and tried to get most of the moisture out of the onion, red pepper, garlic and pinch of cilantro that I roughly pureed with my immersion blender. One can of beans wasn't enough, so after mixing everything together, I added half a can of organic refried black beans. I didn't have breadcrumbs so I added a half a cup of cooked short grain white rice and about 1/3 cup of flour. I greased some aluminum foil and baked them on each side for 10 mins as suggested. To crisp them up, I put them in a pan on the stove with a tad oil for a few minutes before serving. AWESOME served with a side of chipotle mayo.
