Grocery Store Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
No, I want to avoid shortening-based frosting. I'm talking about whipped frosting used in commercial bakeries; it's light to taste and on the cake.

Chunky Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I've made these with both milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips, and either way is fantastic! I omitted the chocolate chips from the cream cheese mixture, but aside from that I didn't change a thing. The first time I made these I baked the bottom brownie layer for five minutes before adding the cheesecake and top brownie layers, and I found that to be an unnecessary step.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I know I am in the extreme minority here, but I just didn't care for these. The texture was odd, the pudding gave them a "box mix" taste, and they needed a bit of salt. I'm glad I finally tried these, though, because I've been curious about them for years.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies from Heaven

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
This has become my go-to peanut butter cookie recipe. The cornstarch gives them an almost "melt in your mouth" texture, yet they're still nice and soft.

Eggless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
It's a rare day in my house when I have buttermilk but don't have eggs, but that was the situation I found myself in not too long ago when I was craving peanut butter cookies. These are fantastic, nice rich flavor, dense and chewy texture. I've made these several times since, even with eggs in the house. I add an extra 1/2 cup of flour, as many have suggested, and I also throw in a generous handful of chocolate chips. Yummy!

We liked this a lot. The only change I made was that I whipped the potatoes in my mixer first. If they were whole my kids wouldn't have eaten them.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I'm giving these 4 stars b/c I don't think it's fair to rate them poorly since I need to play around with them but...am I the only one that followed lebellmelange's review and assumed she meant that INSTEAD OF 2 cups white sugar to use 1 cup powdered and 1 cup white sugar? I realized later, after my dough was super soft and sticky and spread during baking that I must have done something wrong and then I realized she meant that she added an additional 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup powdered sugar. ack! I tried to knead in the additional white sugar to the dough I had left after the first batch of cookies I baked. I put it in the fridge for a few more hours and the dough still got soft super fast while rolling and was hard to cut and transfer but I do think they maintained their shape better during baking and were crispier cookies, not as cake-like as they were originally. So, I'll try these again sometime following lebellemelange's instructions properly! I thought they tasted good.

Garbanzo Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
ADD LIQUID! Otherwise awesome! I loved loved loved this soup. However, after reading the reviews I added two extra cans of tomatoes and one can of chicken broth. Came out a nice thick soup consistency. I served with with lamb chops but it's definitely hardy enough to stand on it's own with some nice crusty bread. I used whole wheat small shells which is what I had on hand and it was great and also healthy! I also added roasted minced garlic and a few dashes of hot sauce. I will defin
