Warm Black Bean Dip

This had a great blend of flavors. I did double the garlic...other than that, I stuck to the recipe and it turned out fabulous! Thanks for this recipe! I will use it many times!

Beer Margaritas

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
I don't like beer. My hubby doesn't like sweet drinks. However, this recipe we can both enjoy. When I have a small gathering, I mix up one pitcher in advance, and have the ingredients ready for a 2nd/3rd pitcher. Sometimes one with appetizers is enough, other times we serve it all evening. Either way I always hear, "This is really good!" (Best bet ingredients are Corona & Quervo Gold)

Wasabi Mayonnaise Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
Do NOT use Miracle Whip in this recipe. I did and it is way too sweet. I added horseradish & dijon mustard to fix the problem, but next time I'll be sure I have real mayo in the house.

Salsa Chicken

Very easy...very good! We love chicken, but the kids get burned out of chicken (about 4 nights a week) so we try to do something different each time...this was a success! WE served it with corn and VIGO rice...

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
These were very tasty...We served them to a few guests...not a single one left (and we made about 30). I actually stuck to the recipe with these and it was great! (okay so i added a little extra garlic...does that count?)

Traditional Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
Okay good baseline for a simple mashed potatoes recipe and I will always refer back to this one! Having said that....have fun...spice it up if you would like..try different types of potatoes, try garlic (Disclaimer...I add garlic to EVERYTHING) , try a touch of sour cream...you choose have fun but use this as a guideline!

Cincinnati Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
We love this! (As other reviews have stated..much better the day after.) Also...as other cooks have suggested, I boil my beef first! That step is essential in getting the true texture of chili! (take it from this cincinnati girl) This recipe is so tasty!

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
To be honest...I can see where this would be good...however it not as saucy as we had hoped. I tried it a second time and eliminated the egg and baking time (reduced baking time in half!). It turned out better the second time...we also grilled some chicken breasts and served over the macaroni and cheese the second time.

These are great! We have made them several times already and they turn out wonderful each time. I add a touch more cinnamon...a bit less white sugar and a few generous pinches of brown sugar! yummy

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
This was truly a great Lasagna! Having never made lasagna sauce before...I was worried it would be too thick...it was perfect! I followed the recipe very closely. The minor changes I made were...I made the sauce the night before and refrigerated it. I also (per other suggestions) soaked the noodles in warm water for 30 minutes instead of boiling. This was delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
These are really great! Very easy to make and so tasty! I use Monterey Jack, Colby, and a little mozzarella for the cheeses. We use chicken instead of beef and actually prefer that in our house (though it is still delicious with the beef).

Chocolate Caramel Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
These are absolutely fabulous! To eat them as brownies...I recommend letting them cool completely (as the hot carmel makes it hard to pick up in squares). However, if you have some ice cream, they are delicious while warm on top of some vanilla ice cream!

Cocktail Meatballs I

A good recipe. The house smelled great making them and homemade is always better than frozen. My guests didn't eat these up, though. Now I'm wishing I'd done a bbq style so the leftovers would make good subs.

Pepperoni Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
I made 2 loaves for New Year's. Most of the first loaf was eaten. It was spicier than I expected (I used sandwich pepperoni from the deli). All in all a good recipe, but I'd add more cheese and/or make my own dough next time.

Luscious Slush Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
I made this for an all teen New Year's Party. (mostly boys) They LOVED it!! One boy had the others convinced it was spiked due to the "tart after taste". Definitely use RealLemon or other lemon JUICE (not lemonade). I froze two ziplock bags of mix, let them soften during the day in the 'fridge, and they were perfect at party time. 15 teens drank about 1/2 of the recipe. (pop was also available) It's a keeper!

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
This is my go to recipe for Egg Drop soup. I always use this recipe for a starter when I am cooking Asian (I like to serve it with sesame noodles and egg rolls!) and it is fantastic! I never have ground ginger, so I usually omit it and use green onions instead of chives, but this is by far the best Egg Drop Soup recipe! Better than the restaurants! I like mine with a few generous dashes of pepper. Yum!

Tuscan Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
This turned out great. Very tasty & I will make it again. I followed the recipe very closely. I used Knorr chicken bullion & water, Italian sausage I had in the freezer, & chopped the potatoes to the size I'd want on my spoon. My sausage was much spicier than I remember buying which was a plus to the over 16's. I had to pick up kids after adding the potatoes, so I simmered it on low an hour or more. The evap. milk was a nice touch, and improved the color. I don't think it's intended to make it creamy.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
This one is a keeper. I made it the first time to give away and was anxious about changing anything. So I made it precisely as given. The size portions (1/4 c.) surprised me as I normally use a small scoop tool (approx 1 heaping T.) for cookies. I 'adjusted' by dropping two scoops per cookie. I underbaked the first pan as some reviewers cut down the time. Those were gooey and melty. At 12 minutes baking and a good 3 minutes cooling they were perfect; soft but complete. The only 'complaint' I heard was, "There's peanut butter in there? I don't taste any peanut butter." Overall, though, everybody wants 'em again.

Pasta with Peas and Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2007
I picked this recipe to use up some extra sausage. Little did I know my kids would start REQUESTING it! The sauce is thin, but nobody was expecting otherwise. The creaminess adds a rich flavor but leaves the ingredients "uncoated". (which is better for the one lactose intolerant family member)
