Spiedies

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
To be honest, I would give this 3 stars, but that's because I made the stupid mistake of making this with that hideous "lemon juice" that comes in the yellow plastic lemon-shaped squeezy thing. As a result, it had a weird nasty chemically disinfectant taste. Yuck. Other than that, this was ok. I'll make it again with real lemon juice.

Fabulous Football Dip

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
I used a mild sausage in this recipe because I made it for the kids after school snack. I halved the recipe, pureed the tomatoes (no chunks) and had to add some dried seasonings for flavor. I added garlic and onion powder and chili powder. This is a great tasting dip..don't think *fabulous*, but it's definitely does not look tasty. Thankfully, I was able to talk my kids into tasting it after seeing it. They did fight over the last bit! I served with corn tortilla chips (recipe from this site) and pita triangles. Will make again with the seasonings.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
Okay, had this in my recipe box for a few months waiting for strawberry season. Glad I did! I halved the recipe, used chopped mandarin oranges in place of raspberries. I guess since my fresh strawberries were sweet I should have cut back on the sugar but I didn't. Next time I make this I will. I did not like the look of the kiwi in this recipe (may be in part that mine was slightly overripe). I served small portions in dessert cups with the cinnamon chips (recipe from this site) crushed on the top. It's a keeper!

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
Excellent salad! I cut the vinegar and oil in half the second time I made it and that worked out better. Left everything else as is. If you use entire amount, there's just way too much liquid. It's a waste. I also subbed Splenda for the sugar. Makes the recipe 100% Weight Watcher Core Plan compliant!Everyone wanted this recipe!

Very Easy Mushroom Barley Soup

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
Delicious! Took another reviewer's advice and used a full cup of barley. You can always add some water when you reheat the soup if it's too thick. This would be good with some chicken added to it as well... Will make again for sure.

Baked Potato Dip

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
This was the first time I made it. Mother's Day '08. It was gone in a flash. I halved it. Next time will make a full recipe. Also a good idea to have on hand allthe time for baked potatoes.

Crispy Chicken Strips

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
This was delicious! Instead of 'seasoning blend', I used garlic powder and thyme. I also put the strips on a baking rack, set on top of a baking dish lined with foil (easy clean up). They were crispy all the way around and very moist inside. Served with mashed potatoes and corn for a pure comfort food meal. Delicious, thank you!

Ground Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
No complaints here. I made the recipe as directed and it was as easy as it was tasty. One thing I wanted to mention. The shopping list calls for mustard seed, not ground mustard (which I already had). I didn't think it needed mustard seed but picked it up just to be on the safe side. Figures. One more small note -16 ounces of noodles is way too much. One 8 oz bag would have been more than enough to serve 4 healthy appetites.

was pretty and very good. I used a chocolate cake from this site instead of brownies. It was to die for. YUM.

Hmm I made it exactly as recipe said except added the sour cream like other reviews said.... sorta bland. I thought it would be better. It was just okay for me.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
My family all ate seconds of this dish, so I guess that means it's good! The only complaint was that the chips were soggy, so next time I will put the chips on after all the baking time is done. I used more salsa than it called for, maybe that's why the chips got soggy. Over all this is a good recipe.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
I'm giving these cookies four stars because I feel they need more brown sugar. I put equal amounts brown and white sugar (1/2 c each) and they were good. Not like the best cookies I've ever had in my life, but definately good enough to make again.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
I've been trying to incorporate more seafood into our diets, and this recipe has been an absolute hit with my husband. Granted, it isn't the most healthy recipe in the world, but I tone down the mayo (use light) and butter (halve it) and it's still great.
