Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
3 as is, 5 with alterations. Quite bland without additions, great base though. Need to add white wine with simmering garlic (5 cloves is best :)). Also added salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and old bay seasoning to shrimp. Used pre-cooked shrimp. Tossed in a handful of good parm cheese (read: not the kind from the green container)with sauce. We enjoyed this for valentines day with a spinach salad and garlic bread. Good thing we both indulged in garlic so we didn't scare each other away with stinky breath!!

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
Fantastic! I mix the turkey, eggs, milk, breadcrumbs, ketchup, and some seasonings together, put half the mixture in an 8x8 pan, add a layer of shredded cheese, add rest of mixture on top and bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees. Turns out everytime! served with baked potatoes, YYUUMM.

Macaroni Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
I've made this recipe several times since I first found it a few months ago. It's easy, quick, cheap, and even with such a simple recipe, there are so many possible variations that it never gets boring. I like to add half an onion and some frozen broccoli or peas, and sprinkle the top with crushed potato chips or tortilla chips instead of cheese.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I was so dissapointed in this recipe concidering its RAVE reviews. My husband who eats anything would not eat anything but the meatballs. The sauce was SO bland like we squeezed tomatoes on our pasta. the meatballs were nothing great either. Concidering it took 2 hours to make i will definately not make again...

Tropical Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
This recipe tasted much different than the "tropical" flavor i thought it would have but was still very tasty. It was more a tangy flavor. All i did in the way of changes was i added a tsp more sugar and about 1/2 water 1/2 pineapple juice when simmering. Otherwise it turned out excellent. Also i used 1/2 c pineapples and that was everyones favorite part. I served over rice w/ corn. will make again.

Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
This is good as is, but better if you take it one step further- follow this receipe exactly, then add a splash of pasta sauce to the bottom of a 13X9 pan, place the chicken on top, add more sauce and motz cheese and bake for 15 minutes. To me, this is tru parmesan chicken! I serve this with Orzo.

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
This was great! I made it for a superbowl party, and served it with Fritos, sour cream, cheese and green onions. I always kind of wing recipes, so i used 1lb ground beef, and 1lb ground sausage. I also omitted the tomato juice and just used 3 cans of diced tomatoes with the juice. This had some heat! Thanks for the post :)

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
Wow! I think this is the best Chili out there!! I made this for a fall bonfire Oct 2007, and also made a pot of Baked Potato Soup.. both I tripled in size.. there was not one drop of chili left- I was happy it was loved but sad no left overs! My husband raved and even raved the next day! Please when making this.. do not alter... there is a reason it is rated so high-- make it the exact way.. every flavor and ingredient is complimentary of each other.. It does seem like alot of ingredients but definitely well worth it.. if you want to make a great chili that will be everyones favorite.. then make this chili.. the best!!!! Yum!

Spanish Rice Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
This is fantastic! I did a Mexican Theme for my youngest son's highschool graduation June 2007.. served this with the Lime Chicken Soft Tacos, Oaxaca Tacos and Chicken Enchiladas I by Debbie Donham (all from all recipes) Back to the rice.. I of-course made enough to fill one of those big white roaster pans full thinking there would be left overs- I will have to say I was shocked that every ounce of this went at the grad party! Everyone raved about it and I will have to say it was the best!!!! It was moist and cheesy, not dry like some recipes are. It is perfect the way it is.. please dont alter the recipe.. Yes it looks like alot of ingredients but gosh every bit worth it when all done. A keeper!!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
Wow this recipe was wonderful! I only made a few small changes. I doubled the sauce (but wished i had trippled it), added a few small potatoes, some corn, and cooked it in a 9X13 pan (so it needs 3 pie crusts). It turned out WONDERFUL. The only reason i wish i had trippled the sauce was because fresh it was WONDERUFL but the next day for leftovers it was very dry.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
I was sadly disappointed with this since it had such GREAT reviews. The only thing i changed was i used 1 C brown sugar 1 C white sugar instead of 3 C white sugar. I ate one piece and honestly the rest sat on my counter for a week before being thrown out. Maybe I am just too used to the family recipe, but i wont make this again.

Garlic Green Beans

I was excited to try this due to the rave review, but it was NOT good. I think my 3 stars might even be nice. The beans were VERY greasy (and i even cut the butter/grease in HALF) and over all they were just yucky. Even my husband who eats almost anything hardly nibbled these.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
The only reason i even gave it 4 stars was because my husband gave it 5, while i only think its about a 3. The chicken its self was good, but the sauce in my opinion was not good. Maybe it was my selection of wine, but i did not change a thing. I probally would not make this again, but who knows.
