Delicious, delicious, delicious! I was nervous about using Granny Smiths for this recipe, but thought I'd give it a whirl. They were the perfect match for the delicious syrup you make to coat the apples and they were the perfect firmness when the pie was done and cooled. I also mixed the apples and the syrup before putting them in the crust and reserved some to syrup to brush over the lattice top. I used Grandma's Secret Pie Crust from this site and, aside from some difficulty rolling out the dough, it a great pairing with this recipe. Everyone loved the pie!
