Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed on Nov. 25, 2007 by Cranker, the cook and baker
Delicious, delicious, delicious! I was nervous about using Granny Smiths for this recipe, but thought I'd give it a whirl. They were the perfect match for the delicious syrup you make to coat the apples and they were the perfect firmness when the pie was done and cooled. I also mixed the apples and the syrup before putting them in the crust and reserved some to syrup to brush over the lattice top. I used Grandma's Secret Pie Crust from this site and, aside from some difficulty rolling out the dough, it a great pairing with this recipe. Everyone loved the pie! Great recipe -- Thanks for sharing!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Wow! That's all I can say. Just plain delicious. I made these ahead of time to bring to my in laws for Thanksgiving morning. My only regret it that I couldn't serve them fresh baked and warm out of the oven. They were heavenly and everyone loved them, just as they are. Bravo!

Grandma's Secret Pie Crust

Reviewed on Nov. 25, 2007 by Cranker, the cook and baker
This was my first attempt at making homemade pie crust by myself, so maybe that has something to do with the difficulty I had working with it. It was difficult to roll out and almost impossible to maneuver into the pie plate. I did a lattice top and it was pretty brittle and I had to be very careful with it. I was skeptical of how it was going to turn out, but boy was I surprised. It was delicious and very flaky! Everyone loved it. I will definitely make it again, but read the reviews of this recipe again to see if anyone has some tips on making it easier to handle. This crust was awesome with Grandma Ople's Apple Pie recipe from this site.
