Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
I also cut the sugar to 1 1/2 c. and it was plenty sweet. I felt the crust need more time to cook first. They were messy, and good, but I'll look for another recipe. Thanks anyway.

Kiwi Strawberry Smoothie

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
We tried this recipe similar to this and we were all very happy with it. I absolutely loved the way the kiwi seeds crunched in the drink. We are looking forward to using it again. The recipe we used also had 1 c. of ice with it. Likely a bit more strawberry (1 c.). We also just used regular vanilla yogurt since our fruit was frozen. Enjoy!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Really good cookies. Even the dough tastes good to eat. The cookies didn't stay as soft for me. I ended up cooking longer as I couldn't lift them from the sheet (needed to let them set on sheet longer after taking them out of the oven... I was impatient and wanted cookies NOW, so cooked longer so we could handle quicker)... so that was likely the reason they weren't as soft. Good flavor. We like both hard and soft cookies, so being crisper was OK with us.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Taste is good, texture was a bit dry for our family's tastes. Apples also didn't cook down as much as we like in the time it was cooked. The crisp wasn't really crisp... it was more pasty in texture, likely too much flour or not enough butter. But taste was good as far as flavor goes. Just wasn't the texture we were looking for.

Smashed Cauliflower

I follwed Brookes suggestions, and I drained the cauiflower very well, added butter, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper to taste. I was still watery, and my kids did not fall for it. And they love cauliflower.

Fresh Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
This soup was amazing!! This was my first time making asparagus soup and this recipe was very easy to follow. Make sure to cut the asparagus ends off. When cooking the asparagus, onions, and broth, I made sure the asparagus was very tender so it would puree well. I did not have any soy milk on hand so I used skim milk instead. Asparagus is on sale again this week so I'm going make this soup and freeze it!

Fortune Cookies So Easy

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
Ok everyone, these are easy with some tips. Put the oven to 350, not 375. Grease cookie sheets really, really well. I added more water to thin the dough and added no vanilla extract, all almond and about 1 tsp. I used a old metal cookie sheet, not an airbake. Spread dough out THIN, bake 4 minutes, flip cookies over bake 30 seconds more. Work really quick, and these look just like the real things!

Parmesan Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
My family loves this recipe! I love that it's vegetarian. I followed the recipe for the most part with a few little tweaks. I didn't have shredded parm cheese so I used grated cheese instead. I also added about 1/4 tsp of ground cayenne pepper to give it some more flavor. I'll be making this soup again for some guests tomorrow!

This is easy, and tasty. I made it ahead of time for dinner and put it in the crockette. I thickened it a little more with some cornstarch to serve over bacon swiss burgers.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
I am rating on taste! LOL. We've made this twice and the taste, fresh, is wonderful... amazing even. But by day 2-3, if you have any left, the pie itself doesn't look as delicious as it did the first day. The taste is fine... we like it warmed up in the microwave. Dh just won't touch it once the apples look a bit softer and wilted... I guess with the lattice crust he can see inside! I add a touch of cinnamon, as suggested in the reviews... I LOVE this recipe, but my family wasn't overly impressed.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
It was ok. We ate them, but I guess we just don't like the cinnamony topping with a blueberry muffin. Our muffins also fell apart when taking them out of the pan. Now, my daughter made these and she is a good cook, but I'm thinking if they cooled in the pan, that would have worked better. We're still looking for a nice sweet blueberry muffin... without cinnamon and probably a little firmer.

Very good recipe. It is sweet and moist. I am one that always wanted my honey or syrup on my cornbread, but with this recipe, I haven't always used my extra toppings. It's also great crumbled as a topping in my chili.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
I've made this crust several times with our apple pie slices. We love it. It is a perfect sized recipe since I use a jelly roll pan and we like thick crusts. Any extras that get trimmed off make great cinnamon pie crispies, too. This crust has flavor. A nice compliment to a sweet pie, would be good with a savory pie, too. IT took me a while to get used to the egg flavor in the crust with the pie crispies, but we soon fell in love with it there as well. We just love the texture, it is flaky and melt in your mouth (as long as you don't work too long with it). Try it... it is a great recipe!

Cauliflower-Cheese Soup

My family really enjoyed this comforting soup. I added a chicken boullion cube to the water and veggies. I also used 7 slices of Kraft american cheese instead of cheddar chz. Make sure to season with salt and pepper otherwise it could be pretty bland.
