Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Followed the instructions to a tee and it tastes wonderful! The white and milk chocolate still seem to separate when cutting but I don't mind. When I make again I'll try using a warm knife to cut into the bark. I'll be using this recipe for holiday gifts to my work clients. Thank you!

Kentucky Hot Brown

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Not long ago we watched one of those travel/food shows on t.v. and the Brown Hotel's Hot Brown was featured. At the time we thought it looked interesting. Then just the other day I was browsing AR for recipes that would use up some of our leftover Thanksgiving turkey when I stumbled across this recipe. Made this today and we all loved it! Definitely a do-over! I followed recipe exactly for this first attempt; decided next time (and there will be many next times) that we'd like even more mushrooms (although I know they weren't part of the Brown Hotel's version, they are yummy). I also like the idea of trying more/other cheeses (romano, cheddar). Great recipe and very appreciative you shared it here!

Just like grandma used to make! I needed to add water to get the proper consistency. Don't skimp...use good quality tahini and fresh lemon juice. Thanks for sharing!

Chicken in Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
Although very easy recipe, we were disappointed with this one. As hubby said, "this is not a do-over". Followed recipe exactly, but found chicken to be bland and have to agree with other reviewers that the appearance was not terribly exciting.

We didn't care for this one. The only change I made was the addition of half an onion as other reviewers had suggested. Neither myself nor hubby cared for the taste of this one.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

LOVE THIS BREAD! Had a partial can of pumpkin puree left in fridge and used it to make half a recipe (1 pan). Great flavor, wonderfully moist...yum!! Even hubby, who is not a huge pumpkin fan, loves this bread.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
We (hubby & I) really loved this soup! It is very similar to a potato soup I've made for years, but by making the roux as the thickener the texture was exceptional! Will definitely make this one again and again. Oh...but do not plan on leftovers...does not reheat well at all.

These look so good in the photo that I had to make them tonight. I think I may have let my expectations get away from me...they were good but just not quite as good as I'd anticipated. Followed recipe exactly, except baked each batch for about 16 minutes (yielded 4 dozen).

Let me preface this review by saying that I hate lowfat baked goods. But, this recipe sounded pretty promising, so I tried it, and I am so glad I did. These are moist, flavorful, and I'll definitely make them again. Try them, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Not liking any "fishy" tastes, I was not expecting that I would actually like this dish. But I can say that I truly liked this dish and will make it again, many times! My husband is a fish eater and he also loved this. Followed recipe exactly and wouldn't change anything.

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I really wanted to love this recipe because it's so easy and how bad can wine and gravy mix be? I was disappointed in the flavor of the sauce as well as the consistency; I had to boil it for a few minutes to get it to a decent consistency after I removed from the oven. The color of the meat from the red wine was also unappealing. Thank you for sharing, but I won't be making this again.

I was thought this would be better than it was. I think it was missing something, maybe some wine. I made the recipe as it was written, but next time I will try adding some other things to suit our tastes.

I made this for a BBQ and it was gone in a flash!! Everyone asked for the recipe! I used peach schnapps instead of vodka, frozen sliced peaches and diced granny smith apples. I let it sit overnight in the fridge. A keeper for sure!!

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This cake was absolutely delicious and everyone loved it. I made several changes: I used 3 cups of powdered sugar for the frosting; it was plenty sweet.I baked the cake for 5 more minutes than called for because my toothpick test was a tad runny; an additional 5 minutes was perfect at that point. Finally, I did not freeze it; I felt it was an unnecessary step, and my cake was very moist without it. Definitely a keeper, thanks so much for sharing!!
