Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
Used blueberries and blackberries. Doubled the cobbler topping as I used a bigger pan. I love the cakey-ness of it. Yum!

Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
I used to loathe shepherd's pie when I was a kid, but for some reason, thought I'd give it a shot with this recipe, mainly because some of the fantastic tweaks done by the other reviewers. Added cup of water with beef boullion cube and packet of onion soup to the beef before adding soups and veggies. Put mashed potatoes on bottom, then cheese, then beef, then more potatoes. Delicious. My boyfriend, who was skeptical, because "Shepherds pies are usually bland" ate it up. The kids too! Will definately make it again!

Good with 2 cups cooked rice mixed in. Skip the mustard.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
Oh my goodness. These are amazing! I whipped up a batch and I'm having a hard time keeping out of them! I used 3 cookie sheets, 1 with butter on the pretzels, and 2 with the soda wash. The ones with the soda wash browned really well with that slight crisp outside. Definately use the soda wash. The buttered ones are cooked through, but are white. Used melted butter instead of the oil, and 4 cups of flour, which still was a bit much, but got it to work. I put garlic powder and parmesean cheese on mine after they were cooked. Before I made these I was trying to figure out what to dip them in, but they don't need it. Making again and again. Yum!

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
This recipe is a curse! I don't need to be eating these. So yummy. And easy. I didn't have any kind of slicer other than the knife in my hand and they turned out good. Definately use wax paper on the plate. Made some with garlic powder and parmesean and some with dill on them. Yum!

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Wayyyy too much mustard. Way too much sauce in general. Gonna find another recipe for salmon so I don't ruin another 2 fillets.

Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I'm at odds with this cake. I'm not quite sure if I like it. I was so excited about making it too, I ran out to the store to buy a cake mix and block of cream cheese. It gets four stars though since the kids are eating it up (duh, there's loads of sugar). I might make it again, but not for me.

Wave Your Flag Cake

After yesterday's cookout, I've been asked to make this cake again. Will do. Even my boyfriend, who's not fond of anything too sweet, loved this.

Bacon and Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Made this the day before our cookout so it had time to sit in the fridge. I checked it at night before going to bed and it was a bit dry. Stirred more mayo, mustard and cider vinegar into it and it turned out ok. Didn't throw in all the cucumber and added a bit of onion. Good stuff.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This dish is so yummy. Nobody could keep out of it. Definately making again. Only thing I left out was the green pepper, since it just didn't sound right for this dip.

Maple Glazed Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I made these yesterday for our cookout, and being my first attempt at making ribs, I was a bit nervous. They turned out great though. The glaze was fantastic and everyone raved about them. After I let them soak in the sauce for a couple hours, I put them in the oven at 275 for 3 hours, instead of boiling them, and just kept coating them with the glaze. They turned out delicious. I'll be making these again.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Made these for our cookout yesterday, and everybody loved them. Nobody had mentioned they were too salty like some of the other reviews I've read. I used the full tablespoon of coarse kosher salt. I did cut the cayenne in half because I didn't want them too spicy. They were so good!
