Angie's Perfect Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
These were good, however, I think I baked them too long cause they were a tad dry. And, next time I make these I will add just a tad more sugar.

Thin Mint Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
I first made these cookies from a Nabisco cookbook. The party crowd loved them. So easy! The original recipe suggested adding crushed candy cane on top before the cool. Adds a nice festive decoration. I plan on making them again for both a cookie exchange party and our holiday gathering. You should try them.

Great cookies, I would have liked a bit more pumpkin flavor, but I followed the recipe as is and they are definitely addictive.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Just the brownie I was looking for! I wouldn't have believed a brownie this dense and fudgy would have a no-oil recipe, but the butter certainly does the job all by itself. These are very chocolaty and rich without being too sweet.

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
This was very delicious! I took the advice of a few others and boiled the chicken in 1/2 of the stock that it calls for (10minutes) then i added the potatoes & carrots & boiled another 5min. I made sure they were still firm but not raw. I prepared everything else the same with the only other exception of the onion, I never keep onion in our house due to the fact that my hubby hates it so i sprinkled in a tiny bit of dried onion and that worked just as well. I also followed the advise of a review on the egg white wash on the crust...turned out beautifully! This is another that will be in our meal rotation menu :o)

School Cafeteria Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
Really good cookies! My only issue was that for some reason these took waaaaay longer to cook in my oven than the recipe stated, about 14 minutes. Usually my oven runs about 25 degrees hot, so, no idea why. Once they were done they were lovely chewy peanut buttery goodness.

Angel's Old Fashioned Beef Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
I agree with other reviews, this makes a good "base" but isn't exactly what I would consider enough to make a tasty stew. I took the advice of others and added a sprinkle of Worchestshire sauce. I made the mistake of adding too much of the water/flour thickener so it was a bit too thick but just added a bit of water to thin it. I really didn't care for the garlic powder. But, this is more if a personal choice, I rarely use it in any of my cooking. Next time I will use a bit of Garlic salt and then just season the rest with salt and pepper. I added the potatoes toward the end but it was still too much time and they were a bit mushy but not bad. Next time I will add toward the last 15-20 minutes of cooking. Overall, it was good but I gave it 3 stars for the blandness.

Just made these and they need salt. I like bursts of cheese, so used small cubes instead of shredding, but I wouldn't recommend it. The cheese sort of burns. Overall, I was not terribly impressed...

Pork and Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Tasty! Since I only made this with 4 pork loin chops I chose to only use one can of soup with about 1/4 cup of water. Based on another reviewer I used celery soup vs chicken or mushroom. I did however use fresh mushrooms and half of a small yellow onion. I put the sliced potatoes (not cubed) in the bottom of the roasting pan and put the chops on top after I had seared them in a little EVOO. Then I poured the skillet remains over the top of the entire dish. I added various seasonings like onion and garlic powder, cracked pepper and salt. I also sprinkled on some Italian seasoning just over the meat. I covered it in foil for the first 40 minutes. Baked for another 15 without the foil. The potatoes were perfect and very flavorful. The meat was slightly over cooked, but that was my fault since the slices were thin. I should have kept a better eye on them. I think with the suggestions to add extra seasonings and veggies to the dish, plus using celery soup, made it a success flavor wise. I will make it again.
